What is the difference between A Modo Mio and Lavazza Blue ?
Lavazza operates 3 separate capsule systems, which are not compatible with each other :
- A Modo Mio (AMM) — consumer soft aluminium capsules , since 2005. Machines Jolie, Idola, Voicy, Deséa. Format 16 capsules.
- Espresso Point (EP) — historic rigid pod, since 1989. Small office/vending. EP Mini machines (this ref.), EP2100i, Pininfarina. 100-capsule format.
- Lavazza Blue (LB) — premium professional rigid plastic capsules , since 1999. For hotels, restaurants, and large offices. Compatible with LB300, LB910, and LB2310 machines. 100-capsule format.

Which of the 200 assorted capsules included are correct?
The 200 included capsules are assorted according to availability at the time of ordering — a classic mix of Lavazza Espresso Point : Espresso, Aroma, Delicato (or Crema e Aroma), depending on current stock. How does the pod insertion work?
The EP Mini machine uses a side drawer with an ergonomic closing lever:
- Lift the side lever to open the pod compartment.
- Insert the rigid pod into the housing (as indicated).
- Close the lever — the machine automatically pierces the pod.
- Place the cup and start the extraction with the coffee button (25-35 mL espresso).
The used pod automatically falls into the internal grounds container — no manual handling required. Empty the container approximately every 15-20 espressos.
Is the Espresso Point system still supported by Lavazza?
Yes, actively supported. Approximately 500,000 EP machines are in operation in Europe, blends are regularly updated, and machines are still being sold new. The EP system still dominates the small-format Ho.Re.Ca segment (3-30 employees). For more upscale use (hotels, Michelin-starred restaurants), the Lavazza alternative is the system Blue (1999).
