Delta Coffee Beans

These are the two signature blends in the Delta whole bean coffee range, with different positioning:

Delta Cafés Gold — our best-seller . Arabica + Robusta blend : slow-roasted Robusta beans from Africa and Arabica beans from Central America, for a pure, balanced, and vibrant cup with notes of honey and ripe fruit , intensity 8/10 . The perfect choice to discover Delta (€24.50 per kilo).

Delta Platinum — premium blend . A blend ofCentral American Arabica and Asian Robusta, slow and naturally roasted, it has the same intensity (8/10) as the Gold but a rounder, smoother, and longerwith notes of ripe fruit, caramel, and chocolate. Sold in 500g bags (1kg bags and multipacks contain several bags). Recommended for tasting or a premium experience.

Our advice : Gold for everyday espresso, full of vitality, Platinum for a rounder and longer cup.

Very little: coffee is not grown on mainland Portugal. The country's only production comes from the Azores, where more than 500 families have been growing coffee with the support of Delta Cafés, the Azorean producers' association and the regional government since 2019; Delta presents it as the only coffee produced in Europe.

"Portuguese coffee" primarily refers to a roasting technique : imported beans are roasted and blended in Portugal to produce a short, full-bodied espresso, the coffee . Delta Cafés has been roasting its beans in Campo Maior, in the Alentejo region, since 1961.

Delta coffee beans retain their aromas for several months provided they are stored correctly:

• Original packaging with its one-way valve: allows CO₂ to escape from the freshly roasted grain without letting oxygen in.
• Dry place, away from light and heat sources (oven, coffee machine that heats up).
• Do NOT refrigerate : humidity and food odors alter the grain.
• Do NOT freeze : thawing creates condensation which damages the aromatic oils.
• Consume within 3 to 4 weeks of opening for an espresso at its peak of freshness.

On Delta's intensity scale, rated out of 15, the strongest whole bean coffees in the range are Delta Ritual and Delta Signature Intense, both at 13 out of 15 (9/10 on our product sheets):

• Ritual : Arabicas from Tanzania and Robustas from Angola, for a striking and full-bodied with notes of red fruits and chocolate.
• Signature Intense : African Robustas and Arabicas from Central and South America, with notes of vanilla and dried fruit.

Next, at 12 out of 15 (8/10), come the Delta Gold, the Chávena and the Superior. For a milder cup, the Gran Crema, 100% Arabica, scores 9 out of 15 (6/10).

The choice depends on your daily consumption (approximately 7g of coffee per espresso):

• 500g — discovery or small household: approximately 70 espressos, 3 to 4 weeks at 2 or 3 cups per day.
• 1 kg — standard size for a household of 2-3 people: approximately 140 espressos.
• 5 kg — small office, light catering: approximately 700 espressos.
• 10 kg — average office, restaurant: approximately 1,400 espressos (−4% per kilo compared to 1 kg).
• 20 kg / 30 kg — Ho.Re.Ca., hotels, large offices: from 2,800 to 4,200 espressos (up to −9% per kilo compared to 1 kg).

Note : For large professional sizes (10-30 kg), plan for regular consumption (daily use) and storage in a cool, dry place. Coffee beans lose their aroma after opening.

Delta coffee beans are designed to be freshly ground at the time of extraction :

1. Coffee machine with integrated grinder — the most convenient. One appliance grinds and prepares the espresso. See our grinder machines. Ideal for home, small office, or restaurant.

2. Espresso machine + separate grinder — the purist setup. A dedicated grinder allows for fine grind adjustment according to the blend and maximum freshness. Recommended for baristas and discerning HoReCa establishments.

Delta Cafés is the coffee of choice for many Portuguese restaurants and Ho.Re.Ca. establishments , both in Portugal and abroad: its blends are designed for counter espresso.
