Taste Profile
The Brazilian bean is the historical DNA of world coffee — Brazil alone produces approximately 35% of the world's coffee, the majority of which is Arabica grown at moderate altitudes (600-1200 m). This origin yields a coffee with a well-rounded, rich profile, low acidity, and signature notes of cocoa, ripe fruit, and roasted almond — very different from high-altitude Arabicas (Ethiopia, Colombian highlands, Kenya) which grow at higher altitudes and develop pronounced acidity.
Delta Cafés —a Portuguese roaster since 1961, number one in Portugal and present in over 40 countries —uses a medium roast in the Portuguese tradition : full development of chocolate and fruity aromas without burning the delicate notes. The result in the cup: a balanced espresso , generous body, clear cocoa notes, very approachable for palates that don't like very acidic or bitter coffees.
An excellent choice as a single daily coffee, or in a homemade blend with a more acidic highland Arabica (Delta Colombia 500g for example) to balance it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is Brazilian coffee so popular?
Brazilian coffee is the most consumed in the world for three main reasons:
- Volume — Brazil produces ~35% of the world's coffee, making it the basis of most international blends.
- An accessible profile — Brazil gives a well-rounded coffee, low in acidity, with familiar cocoa/nut notes — the profile that appeals to the greatest number of palates.
- Value for money — the scale of Brazilian production makes it possible to offer quality Arabica at accessible prices vs micro-lots of origin (Panama, Ethiopia premium).
The Delta Cafés Brazil offers a premium selection of, not the run-of-the-mill industrial kind.
What is the difference with Delta Colombia 500g?
The two Delta single-origin engines offer very distinct profiles:
- Delta Brazil 500g (this ref.) — notes of cocoa, ripe fruit, and roasted almond. Round body, low acidity, moderate bitterness. An approachable and indulgent profile.
- Delta Colombia 500g — notes of red fruit, citrus, caramel. Medium body, marked acidity, long finish. More complex and aromatic profile.
Excellent duo to blend in equal parts to create your balanced homemade espresso (body from Brazil + aromas from Colombia).
Is this a good coffee for an automatic bean-to-cup machine?
Yes, excellent. The Brazilian coffee's profile (round body, low acidity, moderate bitterness) is very versatile —it forgives inaccuracies in grind and temperature settings on entry-level/mid-range automatic machines. Recommended settings:
- Grind : medium 6/10.
- Dosage : 9-10 g per cup.
- Espresso volume : 30-35 mL.
Compatible with all types of machines: Jura, De'Longhi Magnifica, Melitta Caffeo, Philips 3200/5400, Saeco.
Optimal storage?
The 500g Delta bag has a resealable zip closure and a degassing valve. Store:
- In a cool, dry place, away from light (pantry, closed cupboard).
- Never in the refrigerator — moisture condenses every time it is opened.
- Once opened, consume within 3 to 4 weeks to preserve freshness.
For extended use, transfer to an opaque, airtight container after opening.
