Illy Coffee Machine

It all depends on the type of coffee you want to use and where the machine will be used:

• X1 Anniversary Eco Mode — Iperespresso capsules. The brand's iconic machine, in stainless steel or red, with an energy-saving mode.
• X1 Anniversary ESE & ground coffee — no capsules: a filter holder for ESE pods or ground coffee, a milk frother, a 1L water tank and an 18-bar pump. For those who want to choose their coffee.
• X7.1 — Iperespresso capsules, Pannarello steam nozzle for milk, 1 L reservoir. It exists in a professional, designed for about thirty coffees per day according to an illy distributor.
• Y3.3 — the most compact, which also accepts illy Espresso & Coffee capsules for a long coffee.

For an office, choose the X7.1 Professional; for home, the X1 Anniversary in the version that matches your cafe.

• Iperespresso home machines (X1 Anniversary Eco Mode, X7.1, Y3.3): Iperespresso illy, Classico or Decaf capsules.
• X7.1 Professional : Iperespresso Professional capsules , which do not work in domestic machines.
• X1 Anniversary ESE & ground coffee : 44mm ESE pods, of your choice of brand, or ground espresso coffee.

An Iperespresso capsule makes one espresso: it is not reusable.

TheIperespresso is a patented system by illy that extracts espresso in two phases, within the capsule:

1. Hyper-infusion : hot water infuses the coffee under pressure, inside the capsule.
2. Emulsification : upon exiting the capsule, the espresso emulsifies and forms its crema.

The capsule calibrates the pressure, temperature, and extraction time, and the coffee never touches the machine. This is why an Iperespresso machine only accepts Iperespresso capsules.

The frequency depends on the hardness of your water and the number of coffees made: the machine indicates this. On the X1 Anniversary, a slowly flashing orange light indicates that descaling is needed; the X7.1 also has an automatic descaling alert.

Use illy descaling solution and follow the instructions in your machine's manual. According to the X1 manual, neglecting to descale can cause malfunctions that are not covered by the warranty.

Only one version is:

• X1 Anniversary ESE & ground coffee (black): it accepts ESE pods or ground coffee in its filter holder, but no Iperespresso capsules.
• X1 Anniversary Eco Mode (stainless steel or red): it only accepts Iperespresso capsules.

The ESE & ground coffee version allows the choice of coffee, of any brand; the Eco Mode version offers the simplicity of the capsule.

illy offers Espresso & Coffee capsules , which prepare a long coffee, filter-style, in the Y3.3 , X7.1 , and X1 Anniversary Eco Mode machines . The Iperespresso capsules in our selection prepare espressos.

On the X1 Anniversary ESE & ground coffee, the cup size is adjustable, and the coffee can be freely chosen, in ESE pods or ground.
