Kimbo is a Neapolitan company: the brand was founded in Naples in 1963by the Cafè do Brasil company of brothers Francesco, Gerardo, and Elio Rubino, and its coffee is roasted at its factory in Melito di Napoli. Since 1994, Kimbo has been the second-largest brand of packaged coffee in Italian supermarkets, after Lavazza.
At Cafemalin, the Kimbo range, compatible with Dolce Gusto machines, includes two coffees, in boxes of 16 x 7g capsules: Intenso( 12/13), an intense and full-bodied dark roast coffee with a rich texture and a dark chocolate finish; and Barista 100% Arabica (9/13), milder, with notes of fresh flowers, almond, and toast. The intensity levels are those of Kimbo, on a scale of 1 to 13.
A Dolce Gusto capsule contains more coffee than a Nespresso capsule: 7g for Kimbo, compared to 5.5g for its Nespresso-compatible capsules. These capsules are compatible with Nescafé® Dolce Gusto® Original machines (Piccolo XS, Genio S, Infinissima, Mini Me, Oblo, Movenza…), but not with Neo machines , which use a different paper pod system. Same name, same flavor family, two different capsules. According to Kimbo, both are 100% Arabica, medium-dark roast, with notes of fresh flowers and toast; the Dolce Gusto version adds almond, the Nespresso version honey. The Dolce Gusto capsule contains 7g of coffee, the Nespresso capsule 5.5g.
On the Kimbo intensity scale, from 1 to 13:
7g of roasted and ground coffee, packaged in a protective atmosphere. The box contains 16 capsules, or 16 espressos.
