Taste Profile
Delta Cafés Gold is a balanced Arabica-Robusta blend roasted in Portugal using the traditional Delta method. In the cup, it reveals a smooth and indulgent : dominant notes of dark chocolate and roasted nuts (hazelnut, almond), underscored by hints of sweet spices (cinnamon, cardamom). The bitterness is present but well-controlled, the acidity subtle, and the finish rivals that of high-end Italian espresso blends. Ideal for a strong espresso, but also very enjoyable in a filter coffee maker.

Frequently Asked Questions
How to store Delta Gold coffee beans to preserve their aromas?
Whole bean coffee is more stable than ground coffee, but remains sensitive to air, humidity, and light. After opening, carefully reseal the bag (using the Delta heat-sealable strip) or transfer the beans to an airtight, opaque container. Store at room temperature (18-22°C), away from light and any heat source. Avoid the refrigerator, where the coffee will absorb moisture and odors. A sealed 500g bag will keep until the indicated best-before date (generally 18-24 months from roasting). Once opened, ideally consume within 3 to 4 weeks for optimal flavor.
What grind should I choose for my filter coffee maker or espresso machine?
The grind must be adapted to the extraction method :
- Espresso / grinder machine : fine grind (fine sand texture that compacts). Extraction 25-30 s per 30 mL.
- Filter coffee maker / Italian moka pot : medium grind (beach sand texture). Extraction time 4-5 min.
- French Press / piston : coarse (semolina texture). Infuse for 4 minutes, then press slowly.
- Chemex / V60 : medium-coarse grind , ratio 60 g / L.
If your grind is too fine for this method, the coffee will be too bitter (over-extraction). Too coarse, and the coffee will be acidic and weak (under-extraction). Since the Delta Gold bag contains whole beans, you can adjust the grind as desired with a grinder.
Is Delta Gold coffee compatible with my automatic bean-to-cup coffee machine?
Yes, Delta Gold is perfectly suited to automatic bean-to-cup machines with integrated grinders: Philips (LatteGo, 2200-5500), De'Longhi (Magnifica, Dinamica, Eletta), Jura (E, S, Z, ENA, GIGA), Melitta (Caffeo, Barista, LatteSelect), Krups (Evidence, Intuition), Saeco, etc. Simply pour the beans into the top hopper; the machine will automatically adjust the grind and pressure. On mid-range machines, set the grind selector to medium-fine (4-6/10) for a rich, creamy espresso. The Arabica-Robusta blend produces a dense, long-lasting crema that compensates well for machines without pre-infusion. Estimated yield: ~55 cups per 500g bag at 9g per extraction.
What is the difference between Delta Gold, Delta Platinum and Delta Gran Espresso?
The three iconic Delta blends reflect different Arabica-Robusta balances and intensities :
- Delta Gold — intensity 8/10, balanced Arabica-Robusta blend, notes of chocolate and dried fruit. best-selling , versatile coffee (espresso + filter + moka).
- Delta Platinum — intensity 7/10, predominantly Arabica, milder roast, floral and red fruit notes. For lovers of a more refined and rounded coffee.
- Delta Gran Espresso — intensity 10/10, professional Ho.Re.Ca. blend with a Robusta base, very full-bodied, very thick crema. Designed for high-volume, high-speed extractions.
At Cafemalin, these three blends are available in whole bean and groundform, in 250g / 500g / 1kg sizes / packs up to 30kg. Gold remains the default choice for a first Delta purchase.
How many cups can I make with a 500g Delta Gold sachet?
The yield depends on the dosage per cup :
- Strong espresso (7g/cup) : ~71 cups per 500g bag.
- Standard espresso (9g/cup) : ~55 cups per 500g bag.
- Long coffee / lungo (10 g/cup) : ~50 cups per 500g bag.
- Filter coffee maker (60 g / L, i.e. 12 g per 200 mL) : ~41 cups per 500g bag.
For typical household use of 4 cups per day , a 500g bag of Delta Gold lasts between 2 and 3 weeks . For more intensive use (office, restaurant), consider the 5kg pack at 35% off or the 10kg pack .
Can I grind grains at home without a professional mill?
Yes, a domestic coffee grinder is perfectly suitable for the Delta Gold — the type of grinder more important than its price:
- Burr grinder (conical or flat) — recommended. Consistent grind, adjustable, preserves aromas. Entry-level models from €50-80 (Timemore, 1Zpresso, Hario).
- Blade grinder (helix) — functional but less precise. Uneven grind (mixture of coarse and fine), less consistent extraction. Suitable for filter coffee makers and French presses; not recommended for espresso.
Tip: Grind only the amount you need (ground coffee oxidizes in 15 minutes). If your grinder is electric, let it cool between grinds to prevent heat from degrading the aromas.
