Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the Gran Espresso 30 kg and the 20 kg format?
The coffee, its Arabica and Robusta, its roasting, and its cup notes (cocoa, black pepper, spices) are exactly the same. The only difference is the packaging format — 30 x 1 kg bags vs. 20 x 1 kg bags. Choose according to your volume:
- Gran Espresso 30 kg (this ref.) — High volume CHR, autonomy 2-3 months.
- Gran Espresso 20 kg — Medium-sized CHR, autonomy 1-2 months.
Gran Espresso vs Super Crema — how to choose in 30 kg?
These are the two signature Lavazza CHR blends, with distinct positioning:
- Gran Espresso 30 kg (this ref.) — more full-bodied, with notes of cocoa and black pepper. The true classic Italian espresso. Best as a short espresso.
- Super Crema 30 kg — milder, notes of honey and roasted hazelnut, intensity 7/10. Versatile blend excellent in espresso as well as milk-based drinks.
Who exactly is this 30kg pack intended for?
Target market : High-volume, on-trade (hotels, restaurants, and cafes) consumers of intense Italian espresso .
- High-volume Italian bar — multiple establishments, demanding clientele for authenticity.
- Italian restaurant chain — consistent blend across all locations, Italian cuisine.
- 4-5 star hotel — lounge, bar, after-dinner espresso service.
- Company cafeteria for 100+ employees — clientele who love strong coffee.
- Event catering — signature Italian espresso.
Estimated yield ~4,285 espressos at standard 7g dose.
Compatible with milk-based drinks or only espresso?
Gran Espresso also works well in milk-based drinks, but its intense profile is best expressed in a strong espresso or ristretto. In a cappuccino or latte, the cocoa and spice notes remain perceptible, but the bitterness may be more pronounced than with a milder blend. If your menu features many milk-based drinks, opt for Super Crema 30 kg (more versatile). On a menu primarily featuring espresso, Gran Espresso remains the benchmark choice for authentic Italian coffee.
How to store the 30 x 1kg bags to preserve freshness?
Each 1 kg bag is sealed under a protected atmosphere (nitrogen) and equipped with a degassing valve. As long as a bag remains unopened, it will keep until the date indicated on the bag. Store unopened bags at room temperature (18-22°C), away from light—do not refrigerate. Once a bag is opened, reseal it carefully or transfer the contents to an airtight, opaque container, and ideally consume within 3 to 4 weeks. For 30 kg of food service (hotels, restaurants, and cafes), adjust your consumption rate : 1 opened bag = 1 finished bag within a maximum of 3-4 weeks.
