Frequently Asked Questions
6kg vs 3kg vs 1kg unit format — how to choose?
The blend and flavor profile are exactly the same across all three sizes. Choose according to your volume:
- Gran Espresso 1 kg — discovery / office low consumption, autonomy 1-2 weeks.
- Gran Espresso 3 kg — standalone bar / intensive office, autonomy 2-3 weeks.
- Gran Espresso 6 kg (this ref.) — medium Italian bar / trattoria, autonomy 4-6 weeks.
Gran Espresso vs Super Crema — how to choose?
These are the two signature Lavazza CHR blends, with distinct positioning:
- Gran Espresso (this reference) — more full-bodied, with notes of cocoa and black pepper. The true classic Italian espresso. Best as a short espresso.
- Super Crema 6 kg — milder, notes of honey and roasted hazelnut, intensity 7/10. Excellent in espresso as well as in milk-based drinks.
Who exactly is this 6kg pack intended for?
Target market: Italian bar / Italian restaurant / hotel :
- Neighborhood Italian bar — clientele fond of strong espresso at the counter.
- Italian restaurant / trattoria — coherent blend with Italian cuisine, end-of-meal coffee.
- 3-4 star hotel — buffet breakfast, lounge, room service.
- Italian pizzeria/brasserie — perfect espresso pairing at the end of a meal.
Estimated yield ~857 espressos at standard 7g dose.
Compatible with milk-based drinks or only espresso?
Gran Espresso also works well in milk-based drinks, but its intense profile is best expressed in a strong espresso or ristretto. In a cappuccino or latte, the cocoa and spice notes remain perceptible, but the bitterness may be more pronounced than with a milder blend. If your menu features many milk-based drinks, opt for Super Crema 6 kg (more versatile). On a menu primarily featuring espresso, Gran Espresso remains the benchmark choice for authentic Italian coffee.
How to store the 6 x 1kg bags to preserve freshness?
Each 1 kg bag is sealed under a protected atmosphere (nitrogen) and equipped with a degassing valve. As long as a bag remains unopened, it will keep until the date indicated on the bag. Store unopened bags at room temperature (18-22°C), away from light—do not refrigerate. Once a bag is opened, reseal it carefully or transfer the contents to an airtight, opaque container, and ideally consume within 3 to 4 weeks.
