Taste Profile
Kimbo Espresso Mix is a balanced Neapolitan blend, the signature blend of Kimbo , a historic Neapolitan roaster (founded in 1963 by the Rubino brothers ). Composed of a medium-dark roast Arabica and Robusta blend , it develops the classic Neapolitan profile : dominant notes of chocolate , roasted nuts (hazelnut, almond), and toasty notes . In the cup, the body is round , the crema dense and persistent , the bitterness present but clean , and the acidity discreet . The finish is decent, consistent with a versatile blend suitable for both office and hospitality settings . This is Kimbo's entry-level blend for the general public —less intense than the legendary Napoletano (100% full-bodied Robusta) but more approachable for all palates, particularly well-suited to automatic bean-to-cup machines in both home and office environments.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is this 3 x 1 kg pack intended for?
The XL 3kg pack is a medium office/moderate hospitality format , calibrated for:
- Average office 10-20 employees — consumption 20-40 espressos/day, autonomy 2-4 weeks.
- Premium liberal practice (lawyers, notaries, accountants) — waiting room + meeting room, ~15-25 espressos/day.
- Moderate CHR (small bistro, neighborhood brasserie, tea room) — 30-60 espressos/day.
- Medium office break room (10-20 people) — shared bean machine.
For lighter use (heavy household, small office), use a 1kg bag. For more intensive use (heavy hospitality, large company), opt for the 6-12kg packs of other Kimbo blends (Prestige, Extra Cream).
Why 3 bags of 1 kg rather than one 3 kg bag?
It's a deliberate choice for freshness :
- Coffee aromas degrade when exposed to air (lipid oxidation + loss of volatile essential oils). An opened 3 kg bag loses approximately 30% of its aroma in 4-6 weeks.
- In 3 sealed 1 kg bags with a degassing valve, each bag remains fresh until opened. The opened bag should be consumed within 1-2 weeks (moderate office use), while the other two remain sealed.
- Consistency and regularity of cup : each new bag gives a coffee with an identical, against a progressive drift with a single 3 kg bag that is stale.
This is the pro quality standard for XL packs — the same approach as Delta, Lavazza and Bristot on their 3-12 kg packs.
What grind setting should I use with my machine?
This pack contains whole grains — you adjust the grind according to your machine:
- Automatic grain machine (integrated grinder) — medium grind selector 5-7/10. The machine adjusts the dose and pressure.
- Espresso filter holder — fine grind , 14-18 g double dose, 25-30 s extraction.
- Bialetti Moka — medium-fine, full basket without packing, gentle heat.
- Filter coffee maker (grind on demand) — medium, ratio 60 g / L.
Kimbo tip : the Espresso Mix blend, less full-bodied than the Napoletano, lends itself well to all these methods — but gives its best potential in an automatic bean-to-cup home machine (Delonghi Magnifica, Jura E6, Melitta Caffeo).
How many cups does the 3kg pack make?
The yield depends on the dosage per cup :
- Strong espresso (7 g/cup) : ~429 cups per 3 kg pack.
- Standard espresso (8 g/cup) : ~375 cups per pack.
- Long espresso / lungo (10 g/cup) : ~300 cups per pack.
- Filter coffee maker (60 g / L, i.e. 12 g for 200 mL) : ~250 cups per pack.
For typical office use of 30 espressos per day , a 3kg pack lasts approximately 2-3 weeks . For lighter use (small office, heavy household consumption), the supply can last up to 1-2 months .
How should an opened 1 kg bag be stored?
Each opened 1 kg bag remains optimal for:
- Average office use (30-40 cups/day) — 1-2 weeks, aroma intact.
- Moderate CHR use (50-80 cups/day) — 5-8 days, aromas still excellent.
- Intensive household use (5-10 cups/day) — ~4 weeks, if bag resealed with its heat-sealable band or transferred into an opaque airtight jar.
The other 2 sealed bags can be kept until the indicated best before date (generally 18 to 24 months from roasting), away from light and heat.
Kimbo Espresso Mix vs Napoletano vs Extra Cream — what’s the difference?
Kimbo's three iconic blends reflect different profiles :
- Espresso Mix (this pack) — a balanced Arabica-Robusta blend, intensity 8/12, with notes of chocolate and dried fruit. The most versatile : suitable for all palates and all brewing methods.
- Napoletano — a traditional Neapolitan blend, 100% Robusta or a very strong Arabica-Robusta blend, intensity 11-12/12. The authentic Neapolitan bar blend : very intense, with a very thick crema and pronounced bitterness. For those who appreciate strong, classic Italian coffee.
- Extra Cream — blend specifically calibrated for dense cream, Arabica-dominant, intensity 8-9/12. Fruity and chocolatey notes.
At Cafemalin, the complete Kimbo range is available in whole bean, ground, Nespresso-compatible capsules, and XL 3-6 kg packs. See the Kimbo brand hub.
