Taste Profile
Kimbo Bio is the organic and fair trade blend from the Neapolitan brewery: 100% organically grown beans , purchased at the minimum Fairtrade price from cooperatives in Nicaragua , Peru , and India . The composition— 90% washed Arabica for aroma and sweetness, 10% natural Robusta for body and crema—results in a balanced espresso , the opposite of the strong blends for which Naples is famous.
In the cup : a medium-light roast that preserves floral notes and a clean almond character , enhanced by sweet spices and a touch of chocolate . The acidity is delicate and the natural sweetness is well-defined; the bitterness remains subtle (3/10), and the crema is fine and clear . This is the most delicate Kimbo coffee in the catalog—the one you choose for a morning espresso, a caffè crema , or a cappuccino where the milk shouldn't overpower the beans.
Facing ¡Tierra! Voix de la Terre Lavazza, the other organic whole bean coffee in the catalogue (100% Arabica, medium Piedmontese roast), Kimbo Bio plays the Neapolitan roundness : a hint of Robusta for the crema, a slightly lighter roast, a more floral profile.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Kimbo Bio 100% Arabica coffee?
No : it's a 90% Arabica and 10% Robusta blend , and it's a deliberate Neapolitan choice. The washed Arabica beans from Nicaragua and Peru contribute floral notes, almond, and sweetness; the small amount of natural Robusta from India provides body and a denser crema than a pure, light-roasted Arabica. All the beans, both Arabica and Robusta, are certified organic and Fairtrade . Some online listings advertise it as 100% Arabica, but the listings from specialized retailers all agree on 90/10.
What do the organic and Fairtrade labels guarantee about this coffee?
Two independent certifications, audited annually:
- Organic farming (European regulation, Euroleaf) — cultivation without pesticides or synthetic fertilizers, soils and biodiversity preserved, traceability from planting to roasting.
- Fairtrade — purchase of grains at a guaranteed minimum price from cooperatives, plus a Fairtrade premium invested by producers in collective projects (health, education, equipment).
Organic certification indicates how the coffee is grown, while Fairtrade certification indicates the conditions under which it is purchased. Kimbo Bio carries both labels on all its beans, both Arabica and Robusta.
Kimbo Bio or Lavazza Voix de la Terre: which organic coffee beans should you choose?
The two organic whole bean coffees in the catalogue are very different:
- Kimbo Bio (this product) — 90/10 Arabica-Robusta, medium-light Neapolitan roast, intensity 5/10, notes of flowers / almond / sweet spices, denser crema thanks to the Robusta. Organic + Fairtrade.
- Lavazza ¡Tierra! Voice of the Earth — 100% Arabica, medium Piedmontese roast, intensity 6/10, notes of chocolate / flowers / red fruits. Organic + Rainforest Alliance.
Choose Kimbo for a smooth, floral with a beautiful crema, or Lavazza for a pure Arabica with a richer cocoa flavor. Both are suitable for automatic bean-to-cup machines.
Where does the organic product fit into the Kimbo range (Prestige, Armonico, Extra Cream)?
This is the mildest and lightest blend in the Kimbo range in the catalogue:
- Organic (this product) — intensity 5/10, 90% Arabica, medium-light roast, floral and almond.
- Armonico — 7/10, Arabica dominant, round and harmonious.
- Extra Cream — 8/10, crafted for a dense cream, ideal for cappuccino.
- Prestige — 9/10, the classic full-bodied Neapolitan, the brand's best-seller.
If you find traditional Kimbo too strong, Bio is the entry point; if you are looking for a full-bodied Neapolitan espresso, stick with Prestige.
Is Kimbo Bio suitable for automatic bean-to-cup machines?
Yes, it's even its natural habitat: a predominantly Arabica blend with a medium-light roast performs very well in integrated grinders (De'Longhi Magnifica, Philips LatteGo and 2200-5400, Jura E and S, Melitta Caffeo, Krups Evidence, Siemens EQ). Two settings are important: a grind one notch finer than for a full-bodied blend (position 4/10 approximately) and a dose of 9 to 11 g, to avoid a weak cup. Organic beans are no more oily than others: no particular clogging of the grinder.
How to store Kimbo Bio after opening?
The 1 kg bag is sealed in a protective atmosphere with a degassing valve. Once opened, reseal it carefully, expelling any air, or transfer the beans to an airtight, opaque containerat room temperature, away from light. A light roast Arabica-dominant blend loses its floral notes more quickly than a full-bodied blend: ideally, consume it within 3 to 4 weeks of opening. Never refrigerate (humidity and odors).
