Taste Profile
Kimbo Barista 100% Arabica is the premium Arabica selection in the Kimbo Barista range, compatible with Nespresso® Original machines—designed for discerning coffee lovers with a Nespresso machine who seek the signature Neapolitan style without the traditional full-bodied strength. Kimbo departs from its Arabica-Robusta DNA here, offering a 100% multi-origin Arabica mono-blend. The Arabicas are carefully selected from South and Central America for their sweetness and milk chocolate notes, with Ethiopian touches for floral and yellow fruit notes. It is medium roasted in Melito di Napoli—lighter than the Ristretto and Napoli blends—to preserve its aromatic roundness . In the cup: a full body, a smooth golden crema , and dominant notes of milk chocolate , honey , and yellow fruits (apricot, ripe peach). The bitterness is measured, allowing the natural sweetness of the South American Arabicas to shine through. A refined alternative to full-bodied Neapolitan blends — for those who like Kimbo but prefer a milder espresso.

Frequently Asked Questions
Comparison between the 3 Kimbo blends compatible with Nespresso?
Kimbo offers three blends in boxes of 30 Nespresso Original compatible capsules at Cafemalin, from the mildest to the strongest:
- Kimbo Barista 100% Arabica (this ref.) — intensity 6/10, mono-blend Arabica, mild and refined, medium roast, notes of milk chocolate, honey, yellow fruits.
- Kimbo Ristretto — intensity 9/10, full-bodied Arabica-Robusta blend, dark roast, oriented towards traditional Italian ristretto. Notes of dark chocolate, spices, and toast.
- Kimbo Napoli — intensity 10/10, the most full-bodied, Arabica-Robusta blend with a Robusta dominant, dark roast in the traditional Neapolitan style. Notes of deep dark chocolate, warm spices, and toast.
Recommendation: Barista for refined finesse, Ristretto for traditional full-bodied, Napoli for authentic Neapolitan dark roast.
Compatible with Nespresso Vertuo or only Original?
Only Nespresso® Original. The Nespresso system was split in 2014 into two incompatible ranges: Nespresso Original (round capsule, 5-7 g, 19-bar extraction — the original system since 1986) and Nespresso Vertuo (larger round capsule, 8-15 g, centrifugal extraction — a system launched in the USA in 2014 and subsequently rolled out more widely). Kimbo Barista capsules adhere to the standard round Nespresso Original geometry — compatible with Essenza Mini, Pixie, CitiZ, Inissia, Lattissima, Creatista, Prodigio , and all Nespresso Original machines. Not compatible with Vertuo (Next, Plus, Pop).
100% Arabica blend — what are its exact origins?
Kimbo Barista's 100% Arabica blend is a multi-origin single-origin coffee composed of Arabica beans selected primarily from South and Central America for their sweetness and chocolate notes, with Ethiopian touches for floral and yellow fruit notes. Kimbo does not disclose the exact proportions (trade secret), but the typical Barista approach among Italian roasters combines:
- Brazil Santos — natural sweetness, milk chocolate notes
- Colombia — fine acidity, notes of yellow fruits
- Guatemala / Costa Rica — balanced body, honey notes
- Ethiopia (touches) — delicate floral notes
Medium roast at Melito di Napoli — milder than on Ristretto and Napoli to preserve the aromatic roundness of 100% Arabica.
How many cups can you get from a box of 30 capsules?
Exactly 30 espressos — 1 capsule = 1 cup (40 mL espresso mode). Estimated household autonomy:
- Household 2 cups/day — ~15 days. Standard couple rhythm.
- Intensive household: 4 cups/day — ~7-8 days. Coffee + milk-based drinks family.
- Occasional consumption: 1 cup/day — ~30 days. Very comfortable autonomy.
The 30-caps box is the standard Kimbo Nespresso compatible format — for regular use, plan for several boxes in rotation.
Recyclable aluminum – how?
Yes, 100% recyclable. Kimbo Nespresso-compatible capsules are made of aluminum, a material that can be recycled indefinitely. Recycling options:
- Selective sorting of metal packaging (yellow bin in most municipalities) after separation of coffee grounds.
- Nespresso Recycling program (kiosks in partner Nespresso stores — also accepts aluminum-compatible capsules).
- Terracycle (sent via prepaid collection).
Best before date and storage?
Best before date 12-18 months from roasting (typical for Nespresso compatible capsules — shorter than Lavazza AMM aluminum capsules because compatible capsules do not always use a multi-barrier sealing layer). Store at room temperature (15-25°C), away from light and humidity. The aluminum seals the coffee airtight — no loss of aroma as long as the capsule remains intact.
