Taste Profile
Kimbo Espresso Barista Napoli is the most full-bodied in the Kimbo Barista —espresso as it's served in Naples, authentic dark roast without compromise. Its Arabica-Robusta blend is predominantly Robusta (West African, Indian, and Vietnamese Robusta for the intense body and very dense crema, and Brazilian and Peruvian Arabica for the aromatic structure). It's dark roasted in the traditional Neapolitan style—even more intense than the Ristretto (reference #48852), longer and slower, until it reaches the second crack that develops the deep roasted notes characteristic of Naples. In the cup: maximum, abundant and persistent very dark hazelnut-colored, dominant notes of deep dark chocolate, warm spices (cardamom, black pepper, toasted cinnamon), and intense roasting. The bitterness is very pronounced but balanced by the dense body, and the finish is remarkably. Kimbo's choice for those who prefer Naples to Piedmont and seek undiluted Neapolitan authenticity — the capsule equivalent of an espresso at the counter in Piazza Bellini.

Frequently Asked Questions
Napoli vs Ristretto vs Barista Arabica: what’s the difference?
The three Kimbo blends compatible with Nespresso at Cafemalin :
- Napoli (this ref.) — intensity 10/10, the most full-bodied, Arabica-Robusta blend with a Robusta dominance, dark roast in the traditional Neapolitan style. Notes of deep dark chocolate, warm spices, and intense toasting. The authentic Neapolitan.
- Ristretto — intensity 9/10, full-bodied traditional Italian, more balanced Arabica-Robusta blend, dark but less intense roast, for 20-25 mL ristretto. Notes of dark chocolate and spices.
- Barista 100% Arabica — intensity 6/10, refined mildness, mono-blend Arabica, medium roast. Notes of milk chocolate and honey. The mild Kimbo alternative.
Recommendation: Napoli for authentic Neapolitan dark roast (Robusta dominant), Ristretto for balanced traditional Italian full-bodied roast, Barista for Arabica finesse.
Napoli Nespresso vs Napoli Dolce Gusto (reference #48522) — same coffee?
SAME Napoli BLEND, different capsule systems. Kimbo offers its signature Espresso Napoletano on several systems at Cafemalin :
- Kimbo Napoli compatible with Nespresso (this ref.) — box of 30 aluminum capsules for all Nespresso Original machines.
- Kimbo Napoli compatible with Dolce Gusto — box of 16 plastic capsules for all Nescafé Dolce Gusto machines.
- Kimbo Napoli compat Lavazza Blue — pack of 100 caps for Lavazza Blue Ho.Re.Ca
The Napoli blend remains the same (Arabica-Robusta dark roast Naples) — only the dosing system and format change depending on your machine. The exact Robusta/Arabica ratio may vary slightly from one system to another depending on the capsule's engineering.
Compatible with Nespresso Vertuo?
No — only Nespresso® Original. Kimbo Napoli capsules adhere to the standard round geometry of Nespresso Original — compatible with Essenza Mini, Pixie, CitiZ, Inissia, Lattissima, Creatista, and Prodigio. Vertuo uses a different system (larger capsule, centrifugal extraction) which is incompatible.
"Neapolitan dark roast" - what exactly is it?
- Higher temperature (up to 230-240 °C vs 200-215 °C for Piedmont)
- Longer duration (18-22 min vs 12-15 min)
- Roasted beans, up to the second crack, develop a very dark color and an oily sheen on the surface (internal oils brought to the surface).
- Develops notes of dark chocolate, tobacco, warm spices, intense toasting, and reduces acidity to a minimum
A tradition inherited from Neapolitan coffee culture — coffee in Naples is more intense, more full-bodied, and richer than in northern Italy. Kimbo Napoli faithfully reproduces this traditional style.
How many cups and how long does it take to operate?
30 espressos per box. A typical household of 2 cups/day will last approximately 15 days, while a heavy household of 4 cups/day will last approximately 7-8 days. Since Napoli is very strong, typical consumption is often more moderate than with a balanced blend (1 cup in the morning is enough for many) — resulting in a supply often exceeding the theoretical 15 days.
Best before end date and recycling?
Best before date 12-18 months, store at room temperature away from light. Aluminum capsules 100% recyclable via selective sorting of metal packaging, Nespresso Recycling program, or Terracycle.
