Taste Profile
Lavazza Maestro Ristretto is the signature full-bodied in the Lavazza Maestro Collection— Nespresso Original compatible aluminum made and roasted in Italy. It features Arabica-Robusta (Uganda and Vietnamese Robusta for structure, Central American Arabica for finesse), with a dark roast specifically calibrated for a traditional Italian ristretto (short extraction, 20-25 ml). In the cup: a dense and concentrated, abundant crema, dominant notes of dark chocolate, sweet spices (pepper, cardamom), and a deep roast. The perfect format for lovers of strong Neapolitan-style coffee, enjoyed "al banco" standing at the counter—short and intense. Launched by Lavazza after the Nespresso patent was opened in 2012, the Maestro line brings the Italian expertise of Turin to Nespresso Original machine owners.

Frequently Asked Questions

Difference Maestro Classico, Ristretto and Lungo?
Three blends from the Lavazza Maestro collection for Nespresso Original:
- Maestro Classico (#14895) — 100% balanced Arabica, intensity 6/13, notes of flowers and ripe fruit. The versatile everyday blend.
- Maestro Ristretto (this product, #14887) — Full-bodied Arabica-Robusta, intensity 10/13, notes of dark chocolate and spices. Traditional Italian Ristretto.
- Maestro Lungo (#14892) — 100% balanced Arabica, intensity 6/13, floral notes. Optimized long extraction.
What is the difference between these and official Nespresso Ristretto capsules?
Two major differences compared to official Nespresso capsules:
- Blending & roasting — Lavazza applies its Italian know-how (Piedmontese school of Turin, balanced roasting which preserves aromatic complexity) which gives an aromatic profile different from official Nespresso blends (Swiss/French school, darker).
- Price — Maestro capsules are generally cheaper per capsule than official Nespresso capsules of equivalent volume (compare the prices shown).
The manufacturing quality is comparable — Lavazza is a historic roaster founded in 1895, not a discounter. The capsules are produced in Lavazza's factories in Italy.
