Taste Profile
Delta Q Qharacter N°9 is the balanced-full-bodied capsule in the Delta Q range — rated 9/13 on the Cafemalin, just below the intense Qalidus N°10. It features a scale balanced Arabica-Robusta blend , medium roasted in Campo Maior, Portugal. In the cup, it's a rich and rounded espresso with dominant notes of indulgent milk chocolate , roasted hazelnut , and toasted cereals (brioche). The body is full and enveloping , the acidity is well-controlled , the bitterness balanced , and the finish lingering . It has a strong personality — more character than an Aqtivus but without the intensity of a Qalidus. It's the perfect choice for those who appreciate a true espresso with body while preserving aromatic nuances (chocolate, hazelnut). Excellent as a short espresso, and very good as a cappuccino thanks to the sweetness of the milk chocolate. A discovery pack of 10 capsules is available to explore this signature blend.

Frequently Asked Questions
Qharacter N°9 vs Aqtivus N°8 — real difference?
Two very similar blends, with a subtle but noticeable difference:
- Aqtivus N°8 — balanced and versatile, rounder and smoother, with notes of cocoa, cereals, and dried fruit. An accessible mid-range option.
- Qharacter N°9 — balanced and full-bodied with character, more body and length, pronounced milk chocolate/hazelnut notes. A notch more intense on the palate.
If you want an easy and versatile coffee , choose Aqtivus . If you want more body and character without going for a full-bodied coffee, choose Qharacter . The difference is most noticeable in pure espresso; less so in milk-based drinks.
Qharacter N°9 vs Qalidus N°10 — which one is tougher?
Qalidus N°10 is significantly more robust — the jump from 9 to 10 on the Delta Q scale marks the crossing of the threshold from "balanced-robust" to "intense". Specifically:
- Qharacter N°9 — body 8/10, dominant milk chocolate notes, moderate bitterness.
- Qalidus N°10 — body 8/10, dominant dark chocolate notes, marked bitterness, denser cream.
Qharacter remains in the accessible, indulgent range ; Qalidus leans towards anintense Italian-style espresso. Choose according to taste preference — both are excellent choices.
Is Qharacter suitable as a milk drink?
Yes, very good . The 9/13 intensity is still compatible with hot milk, and the blend's natural milk chocolate notes pair particularly well with the milky sweetness. The milk adds a creamy layer that softens the slight Robusta bitterness without overpowering the coffee. Cappuccino sequence recommended:
- Extract 1 Qharacter capsule into a short espresso (30 mL) in a cappuccino cup.
- Add 120-150 mL of hot frothed milk (steam nozzle or external frother).
- Optionally, sprinkle with unsweetened cocoa powder to enhance the chocolate notes.
How many cups can you make with 10 capsules?
Exactly 10 espressos — each capsule = 1 cup. Estimated battery life:
- Household 2 cups/day — 5 days, perfect discovery size.
- Amateur solo 1 cup/day — 10 days, one box is enough to test.
For regular use, consider the economical 40-capsule Qalidus (intense cousin) or consult the full Delta Q range.
Compatible with systems other than Delta Q?
No — the Delta Q capsule is a proprietary format launched in 2007 by Delta Cafés. It requires a Delta Q machine (Mini Qool, Naya, Iconiq, Qosmo, Milk-Q, Qlip, Qonic). It is not compatible with Nespresso, Nescafé Dolce Gusto, Lavazza A Modo Mio / Blue /Firma/ Point, illy Iperespresso, or any other proprietary system. See available Delta Q machines at Cafemalin.
What does "Qharacter" mean — a play on words with Delta Q?
Qharacter is a play on words with Delta Q: Q for Delta Q + character = "character" in English. Delta Q applies this convention to its entire range (Qonvictus = conviction, Aqtivus = active, Qalidus = hot/intense in Latin, Qharisma = charisma, Deqafeinatus = decaffeinated in poetic Latin, EpiQ = epic, Mythiq = mythical). Each name encapsulates the aromatic character of the blend—for Qharacter, the promise of an espresso with a strong yet approachable character .
