Taste Profile
Lavazza Blue Mint is a mint green tea in a System capsule Blue —a convenient capsule that recreates the experience of traditional mint tea in 30 seconds, without a teapot or tea bag. Classic composition: Camellia sinensis green tea (traditional tea leaves) combined with a natural fresh mint flavor reminiscent of Spearmint (Mentha spicata) used in traditional teas from North Africa and the Mediterranean. In the cup: a clear to greenish-amber infusion with dominant notes of bright, fresh mint , a slightly astringent, herbaceous green tea base , and characteristic green tea vegetal accents . The profile is refreshing and invigorating , quite different from a black tea or a caffeine-free infusion. This product contains theine —the caffeine equivalent in tea leaves—at a level of approximately 30 mg per cup (compared to a Blue at 80-110 mg/cup, or about 2 to 3 times less). Mint green tea is traditionally consumed caffeinated coffee as a digestif after meals (mint essential oils aid digestion), as a hot summer beverage (paradoxically refreshing, it promotes adaptive perspiration), and during office/hotel/restaurant breaks as a varied alternative to coffee. The 15-capsule format is suitable for occasional consumption or as a complement to a main coffee box—it is not intended to be the primary beverage. It is ideal in an office/hotel/restaurant setting where offering a tea alternative alongside coffee is appreciated by employees.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does it contain caffeine/theine?
Contains theine (the name given to the caffeine in tea, chemically identical). Quantity:
- ~30 mg per cup — the equivalent of about 1/3 of a classic espresso.
- 2 to 3 times less coffee Blue Amabile or Intenso
For a drink strictly free of caffeine and theine, choose pure infusions: Lavazza Blue Red Fruit Tea (hibiscus/fruit without theine) or Delta Q Relax (verbena/chamomile/linden herbal tea).
Sugar-free?
Yes, no added sugar in the capsule. The typical composition is simply green tea + natural mint flavoring — no sugar or sweeteners. You can sweeten to taste after brewing, or drink it plain. Moroccan tradition generously sweetens mint tea (2-3 pieces per cup), while Asian tradition prefers it plain. Suitable for sugar-free, diabetic, and low-carb diets.
Suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding women?
With caution — contains theine. Recommendations for pregnant women are:
- Limit total caffeine (coffee + tea + chocolate + soda) to less than 200 mg/day during pregnancy (WHO and French authorities recommendation).
- One cup of Lavazza Blue Mint = ~30 mg theine → possible 1-2 cups/day without exceeding the limit if little other caffeine intake.
- During breastfeedingapply , as theine passes into breast milk.
For a 100% caffeine-free herbal tea, choose Blue Red Fruit Tea or Delta Q Relax. Consult your doctor/midwife if you have any doubts.
How do you extract tea using an espresso machine?
Use the long coffee/lungo button for a 90-120 mL extraction (like a long coffee). Technical details:
- Hot water percolates through finely ground tea leaves at high pressure (~15-19 bars Bluemachine).
- The extraction is faster than a classic teapot infusion (~3-5 min at ~85 °C) but effective thanks to the fineness of the grind.
- Result: clear to greenish amber infusion , corresponding in concentration to a classic tea bag.
Do not use the short espresso button (25-35 mL) as it will produce an overly concentrated and bitter infusion.
Mint vs Al Limon vs Red Fruits — which Blue tea capsule should you choose?
Three Blue teas/infusions with very different profiles:
- Mint (this product) — green tea + mint, contains ~30 mg of theine, fresh, herbaceous notes. Ideal for digestion after meals and in summer.
- Al Limon — black tea + lemon + bergamot, contains ~40 mg of theine, fruity tangy notes. Ideal for the afternoon and as a gentle energizer.
- Red Fruit Tea — hibiscus/raspberry/blackcurrant infusion, caffeine-free, with tangy fruity notes. Ideal for evenings, pregnant women, and children.
Mint is the classic digestive choice, Al Limon provides the gentle energy of flavored black tea, Red Fruits is the 100% infusion, zero-caffeine.
Compatible with systems other than Lavazza Blue ?
No capsule Blue is a proprietary format launched in 1998 by Lavazza for the B2B/HoReCa segment. It requires a Lavazza Blue (LB300 → LB4700, Classy Mini/Plus). Not compatible with Nespresso, Dolce Gusto, Delta Q, Lavazza A Modo Mio , or Illy Iperespresso.
