Frequently Asked Questions
Why is Aqtivus considered the most versatile Delta Q blend?
Aqtivus No. 8 occupies a central position on the Delta Q scale: full-bodied enough for a true Italian-style espresso, yet balanced enough not to overpower a milk-based drink. The Arabica-Robusta blend is calibrated to offer body, aroma, and sweetness in harmonious proportions. In practical terms, Aqtivus works equally well as a short espresso (30 mL in the morning), a lungo (110 mL after a meal), a cappuccino, or a latte—whereas other, more distinctive blends (such as mild Qonvictus or extra-full-bodied Mythiq) are more specialized. It's the recommended default choice for a variety of home coffees.
Aqtivus N°8 vs Qharacter N°9 — which one to choose?
Two very similar blends, with a subtle difference:
- Aqtivus N°8 — balanced and versatile, with notes of cocoa, cereals, and dried fruit. A notch rounder and smoother.
- Qharacter N°9 — balanced-full-bodied, with notes of milk chocolate/hazelnut/toasted cereals. A step more full-bodied, more intense.
If you prefer a smooth, mellow, choose Aqtivus. If you're looking for a bit more body without going as far as the strong No. 10, choose Qharacter. Both are excellent choices for milk-based drinks.
Is Aqtivus suitable for a cappuccino or latte?
Yes, very good. The balanced intensity of 8/13 pairs perfectly with hot milk: the coffee retains enough presence without becoming bitter once softened by the milk. Recommended sequence:
- Extract 1 Aqtivus capsule into a short espresso (30 mL) in a cappuccino cup.
- Add 100-150 mL of hot frothed milk (using a steam nozzle in a machine or an external frother).
- Serve immediately — optional design (heart, tulip) when pouring.
For a stronger milk-based drink, try Qalidus No. 10 — the coffee will resist dilution from the milk more.
How many cups can you make with 10 capsules?
Exactly 10 espressos — each capsule = 1 cup. Estimated battery life:
- Household 2 cups/day — 5 days, perfect discovery size.
- Couple 3 cups/day — 3 days, prefer a 40 or 100 format for regularity.
For regular use, consider the economical 40-capsule Qalidus No. 10 (a stronger cousin blend) or consult the complete Delta Q range in an economical pack.
Compatible with systems other than Delta Q?
No — the Delta Q capsule is a proprietary format launched in 2007 by Delta Cafés. It is not compatible with Nespresso, Nescafé Dolce Gusto, Lavazza A Modo Mio, Lavazza Blue, Lavazza Firma, Lavazza Point, illy Iperespresso, or any other proprietary system. It requires a Delta Q machine (Mini Qool, Naya, Iconiq, Qosmo, Milk-Q, Qlip, Qonic). See available Delta Q machines at Cafemalin.
How should Delta Q capsules be stored?
Each capsule is hermetically sealed under a protective atmosphere — no oxidation until it is pierced. Recommendations:
- Storage — room temperature 18-22 °C, away from direct light, away from heat sources.
- Best before end date — generally 18-24 months after roasting (date indicated on the packaging).
- Avoid — refrigerator (humidity), freezer, humid places (bathroom).
