Delta Q Qharisma N°12 is the most intense capsule in the Delta Q range — ranked 12/13 on the Cafemalin, just below the extra-intense EpiQ N°14 and Mythiq N°15. It features a scale Robusta-dominant Arabica blend (a signature ratio to maximize body and crema), dark roasted in Campo Maior, Portugal. In the cup, it's a powerful and full-bodied espresso with dominant notes of intense dark chocolate (close to 85% cocoa), deep toast (from a dark roast), and warm spices (pepper, clove). The body is maximal , the crema very dense and persistent with a very dark hazelnut color, the bitterness pronounced and assertive , the sweetness low , and the finish very long . An ultra-full-bodied, Italian-style profile —the traditional Roman bar espresso , Delta Q style. It's the choice for lovers of intense coffee, connoisseurs who seek the charisma of a truly strong espresso (the name Qharisma evokes aromatic charisma). Qharisma N°12 vs Qalidus N°10 — real difference in power?
A clearly noticeable difference. The shift from No. 10 to No. 12 on the Delta Q scale corresponds to crossing the "full-bodied balanced" zone into "very intense":
- Qalidus N°10 — full-bodied and balanced, rich dark chocolate , pronounced but harmonious bitterness. An accessible Italian-style espresso .
- Qharisma N°12 — very full-bodied, intense dark chocolate , deeply roasted, with spicy notes. Pronounced bitterness . A very full-bodied espresso for connoisseurs .
If you find Qalidus just strong enough, stick with Qalidus. If you're looking for more power and length, go for Qharisma.
Qharisma N°12 vs EpiQ N°14 vs Mythiq N°15 — the hierarchy?
Three very intense blends, in increasing degrees of intensity:
- Qharisma N°12 — very intense yet balanced. Accessible power — strong bitterness but with lingering chocolate notes.
- EpiQ No. 14 — surpasses the standard scale, more Robusta, darker roast. For a self-confessed lover of full-bodied espresso.
- Mythiq N°15 — extra-intense beyond the scale, the ultimate expression of Robusta. Exclusive connoisseur.
Ascending order of Robusta and bitterness: Qharisma (12) < EpiQ (14) < Mythiq (15). Choose according to bitterness tolerance.
Is Qharisma suitable as a milk-based drink?
Yes, but with caution. A strength of 12/13 is still compatible with hot milk, but the coffee may become overpowering if you add too much milk—opt for a "dry" cappuccino (with less milk) rather than a latte macchiato (with more milk). Recommended sequence:
- Extract 1 Qharisma capsule into a short espresso (25 mL) in a cappuccino cup.
- Add 80-100 mL max frothed milk (no more, to preserve the character).
- The coffee retains its deep dark chocolate and roasted notes, softened by the sweetness of the milk.
For a milkier latte (150-200 mL milk), choose a less intense blend such as Aqtivus N°8 or Qharacter N°9.
What does the name "Qharisma" mean?
Qharisma is a play on words combining Delta Q — Q (prefix Delta Q) + charisma = "charisma" in English/Italian. The name evokes the charismatic character of this blend: powerful, present, and memorable on the palate. Like a charismatic individual who leaves a lasting impression, this espresso leaves a lasting taste impression. The Delta Q convention is shared with Qonvictus (conviction), Aqtivus (active), Qharacter (character), Qalidus (hot/intense in Latin), EpiQ (epic), and Mythiq (mythical).
Compatible with systems other than Delta Q?
No — the Delta Q capsule is a proprietary format launched in 2007 by Delta Cafés. It requires a Delta Q machine (Mini Qool, Naya, Iconiq, Qosmo, Milk-Q, Qlip, Qonic).
