illy Iperespresso Pro Classico Lungo is the professional Lungo of the illy Classico signature blend, calibrated for a long coffee extraction (80-100 mL) versus 25-30 mL for a short espresso. 100% Arabica blend from 9 single-farm origins — South America (Brazil, Colombia, Guatemala, Costa Rica, El Salvador), Africa (Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda), Asia (India) — balanced medium roast Classico.
In the cup (Lungo 80-100 mL on an Iperespresso Pro machine) : a long coffee with a creamy texture, the crema always dense thanks to the Iperespresso 2-phase system, signature notes of milk chocolate, blond caramel, delicate white flowers, and malty hints. Rounder and more enveloping than a short espresso, less bitter (3/10), natural sweetness amplified by dilution (8/10), smooth body (5/10). Ideal for those who prefer a high-quality long coffee or forintensive office use where you drink your coffee in 5-10 minutes while working.

Which Iperespresso machines are compatible?
Only illy Iperespresso Professional machines : X9 (high-end Ho.Re.Ca. with touchscreen), X7.1 Pro version (intensive office use, distinct from the standard X7.1 Home), dedicated Iperespresso Ho.Re.Ca. machines. These machines are designed for intensive daily office use : reinforced extraction chamber, larger water tank, faster machine cycle (30-60 seconds per extraction), superior mechanical resistance.
⚠️ Not compatible with standard Iperespresso Home machines : Y3.3, Y5, X7.1 standard, X1 Anniversary. For these home machines, use illy Iperespresso Classico Home 90 (same Classico blend, different Home capsule format).
What is the difference with the Iperespresso Home format?
The Iperespresso Pro capsule is physically different from the Home capsule: dimensions, filter shape, mechanical resistance. It's a dedicated professional capsule format that allows illy to optimize:
- Mechanical resistance in intensive use — high office/Ho.Re.Ca. traffic (100+ coffees/day).
- Faster machine cycle — Pro extraction optimized for simultaneous service.
- Increased coffee yield — 7g dose calibrated Pro Lungo format.
The Home capsule remains optimal for home use (3-8 espressos/day). The Pro capsule becomes economical once you exceed ~20-30 coffees/day and requires a Pro machine (it is not compatible with Home machines).
Why the "Lungo" format specifically?
The Lungo format (long coffee 80-100 mL) is very popular in offices and Ho.Re.Ca. for several reasons:

The Iperespresso Pro Classico Lungo capsule is calibrated in dose (7 g) and grind (medium-fine) to make an excellent long coffee that is balanced and without bitterness, unlike a "stretched" espresso which becomes too bitter and under-extracted.
Is there a decaffeinated version in Pro size?
Yes — illy Iperespresso Pro Decaffeinated 18 capsules. Same Classico blend, decaffeinated using the Swiss Water Process (100% natural, solvent-free), Pro capsule format for X7.1 Pro/X9 machines. Ideal for hotels/Ho.Re.Ca. that need to offer a decaf option in the evening for their clientele.
Savings vs. buying 30 Home capsules?
The price per Pro capsule is comparable to the Home format , but the Pro capsule offers:
