Taste Profile
Lavazza Intenso is the traditional full-bodied in the A Modo Mio, embodying true classic Italian espresso —the kind served in bars in Northern Italy (the Lavazza Piedmontese school). It's an Arabica-Robusta (Robusta from West Africa and Southeast Asia for the body and crema, Arabica from South America for the aromatic structure), with a medium-dark roast that develops the aromatic intensity and signature notes of Italian espresso. In the cup: a dense, abundant and lasting dark hazelnut-colored, dominant notes of wood, dried fruit (hazelnut, toasted almond), and toasted cereals. The bitterness is present but balanced by the natural sweetness of the Arabica, and the finish is persistent. The Lavazza AMM choice for lovers of traditional full-bodied coffee : a strong espresso at the Italian bar, a solid base for a cappuccino that holds its own against milk.

Frequently Asked Questions
Intenso or Passionale: what is the difference between the two intensities (9/10)?
Two A Modo Mio with anintensity of 9/10 but with different compositions and profiles :
- Intenso (this ref.) — Arabica-Robusta , more rustic and powerful body , notes of wood and roasted cereals. Classic full-bodied Italian espresso, Piedmontese school .
- Passionale — 100% Arabica, finer body, notes of dried fruit and dark chocolate. Top-of-the-range aromatic, complex and refined.
Recommendation: Intenso for classic Italian power (unbeatable price/quality ratio), Passionale for finesse and complexity (premium moments).
Is it stronger than an espresso at an Italian bar?
Comparable, but not identical. Intenso faithfully reproduces the profile of classic Italian espresso blends (Lavazza Piedmontese school), with the same Arabica-Robusta structure and a similar roast. However, the capsule coffee (15-bar extraction, 7.5g dose) will be slightly less intense than a professional espresso extracted with a lever machine (9-bar extraction, 18g double dose, pre-infusion, tamping). Intenso remains the AMM blend closest to a true Italian bar espresso.
Is the Intenso suitable for cappuccino and milk-based drinks?
Yes, very good. Unlike milder 100% Arabica blends that can get lost in milk, Intenso retains its character even with frothed milk—the roasted, full-bodied notes cut through the foam. Recommendation: 1 Intenso capsule + 100-120 mL of whole milk frothed at 65°C. For a milder cappuccino, choose Delizioso or Soave.
