- First use : run 0.5 L of water without a capsule, in two passes on the free dose button, as instructed in the Lavazza user manual.
- Reservoir : fresh, potable and non-carbonated water, never exceed the MAX mark; empty, rinse and refill after 3 days of non-use.
- Capsule container and drip tray : empty as soon as the full container light comes on; the used capsule falls into the container when the lever is raised and then lowered.
- Cleaning : all removable parts are dishwasher safe; the bodywork should be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth, never with solvents or alcohol.
- Descaling : as requested by the machine (dedicated indicator light), generally every 2 to 3 months: Lavazza descaler 250 ml + 250 ml of water, container of at least 0.5 L under the coffee outlet, then two rinses. Never use vinegar.

What's the difference with other Idola colours?
At Cafemalin, theIdola is available in two finishes: Black (this listing), a deep black, and Greige, a gray with beige undertones. The technical specifications are identical : same buttons, same 1.1L water tank, same 28-second heat-up time. The choice is purely aesthetic.
Does the Idola make cappuccinos?
No: the Idola is an espresso, without a steam wand or integrated milk frother. It prepares espresso (30 ml), espresso lungo (45 ml), long coffee (90 ml), and a free shot. For a cappuccino or latte, froth the milk with a separate frother, then pour it over an espresso prepared with the Idola.
How do I program the dose for a key?
According to the Lavazza instructions: with the capsule in place and the cup under the coffee outlet, press and hold the button you wish to program. After approximately 3 seconds, the other buttons will flash and a beep will indicate programming mode. Keep your finger on the button until you reach the desired quantity, then release: the dose is saved. A power outage will retain the last programmed dose.
What is the Boost button for?
It makes hotter coffee. Press Boost before pouring: the machine will beep and the button will light up more brightly. A second press returns to the standard temperature. The temperature cannot be changed while the coffee is being dispensed.
What maintenance is required?
A simple, which the machine itself indicates:
- Capsule container and drip tray — empty as soon as the full tray indicator lights up; all removable parts are dishwasher safe.
- Reservoir — fresh, non-carbonated water, to be renewed after 3 days of non-use.
- Descaling — requested by a clairvoyant, generally every 2 to 3 months: Lavazza recommends its descaler and excludes vinegar.
- Bodywork — soft, damp cloth, never use solvents or alcohol.
What is the Lavazza A Modo Miosystem?
Lavazza A Modo Mio is Lavazza's home capsule system, launched in 2007 : a dedicated machine, one capsule per cup, up to 7.5g of coffee capsule Modo Mio machines Modo Mio.
Lavazza has two other systems, for the office and catering: Lavazza Blue and Espresso Point, with capsules that are not interchangeable with those of A Modo MioMio.
