Covim Granbar is the benchmark blend for the Italian hospitality industry — the signature blend of Covim (a historic roaster from Sanremo, Liguria, since 1972) in the professional coffee bar segment. A Arabica-Robusta (~70/30), medium in the northern Italian style (Liguria/Piedmont), with a balanced and versatile — no excessive Neapolitan bitterness or high-altitude acidity, the Italian middle way.
In the cup : a well-rounded and indulgent, with a dense, hazelnut-coloredand signature notes of milk chocolate, roasted hazelnut, and malty undertones. Medium body (7/10), smooth acidity, moderate bitterness—a coffee that appeals to a wide audience, straightforward, predictable, yet consistently high-quality. This is the blend found in thousands of northern Italian coffee shops and bars.
Specific dual-dose format : This capsule is designed to extract two consecutive espressos per capsule (via the dual-dose mode of Lavazza Blue LB2310 machines and similar models) — resulting in a cost per cup that is halved compared to a standard single-dose capsule. Pack yield: 100 capsules = ~200 espressos. An unbeatable solution for high-traffic hospitality establishments, large offices (100+ people), and intensive professional vending.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the bidose format work?
The Covim Granbar double-dose contains approximately 15g of coffee (vs. approximately 8g for a standard single-dose capsule). Usage:
- Insert the capsule into the Lavazza Bluemachine.
- Select the double-dose mode (2 consecutive espressos) on machines that offer this feature (LB2310, LB910, LB1000 pro). On machines that do not offer this feature, press the espresso button twice consecutively.
- The machine extracts 2 short espressos (~25 mL each) with the same coffee, preserving the crema.
Result: ~€0.14 per espresso (instead of ~€0.28 in single dose) — -50% on the cost of coffee while maintaining Covim Granbar quality.
Do all Lavazza Blue machines support the bidose mode?
No, only the professional machines : LB2310, LB910, LB1000 (professional versions), and some LB400 professional models. Home/small office machines (LB300, standard LB400, Basic 950) do not have a dedicated double-dose button, but you can extract two espressos by pressing the button twice (less efficient but functional).
If you do not have a bidose machine, opt for standard single-dose capsules: Kimbo Napoli 100 caps (dark roast) or Bristot Arabica Plus 100 caps (100% Arabica).
Real savings vs single-dose or original Lavazza Blue capsules?
Savings on two combined axes :
- Bidose vs single dose : -50% per cup (1 capsule = 2 espressos).
- Capsule compat vs Lavazza Blue original : -35% on the capsule price.
Total savings: ~70% less per cup solution Blue . For a restaurant/hotel/café serving 200 espressos per day, annual savings reach ~€4,000 to €6,000. This is the most economical solution on the market for professional espresso in the Blue.
Taste profile compared to other Blue compatible blends?
The Lavazza Blue compatible capsule range at Cafemalin offers 3 distinct profiles:
- Covim Granbar Bidose (this ref.) — medium roast classic Italian, chocolate/hazelnut/malted, versatile, economical bidose format.
- Kimbo Napoli — dark roast Neapolitan, full-bodied, bitter cocoa/spices/intensely roasted.
- Bristot Arabica Plus — 100% mild Arabica, floral and honey notes, aimed at light coffee lovers.
Who is this bidose format specifically intended for?
Bi-dose format relevant only for high-volume users :
- CHR at 100+ espressos/day — cafes, bars, restaurants, 4-5 star hotels.
- Office space for 100+ employees — coffee rooms / company cafeteria.
- Vending pro intensive — high-traffic vending machines.
For home or small office use (< 20 espressos/day), the single-dose format remains simpler and does not provide significant savings.
Recycling the capsules?
Covim capsules made of polypropylene (PP) plastic — recyclable in the yellow recycling bin after emptying the coffee grounds. The grounds can be composted separately. At Cafemalin, we always recommend installing a capsule collection bin next to the Blue to organize recycling in offices or hotels/restaurants/cafes.
