Lavazza Blue — abbreviated LB — is the proprietary capsule system launched by Lavazza in the early 2000s, positioned between the home consumer market (A Modo Mio) and the purely professional Ho.Re.Ca. market (Espresso Point). The idea: to bring authentic Italian espresso to offices, hotels, and restaurants, with the simplicity of capsules and aromas preserved by a hermetically sealed capsule.
The Lavazza Blue capsule has a polypropylene body sealed with an aluminum foil lid to guarantee optimal aroma preservation (12-24 months shelf life). It contains 7 to 9 grams of ground coffee, depending on the blend, extracted under 9-15 bars of pressure for a creamy Italian espresso. The capsule range includes more than 15 blends — Crema e Aroma , Amabile , Intenso , Decaffeinato —as well as the Tales of Venezia, Milano, Roma, and Napoli collections , which celebrate Italian coffee traditions. Descaling is essential for optimal extraction quality and machine lifespan. Recommended frequency:
LB300 / LB 2310 Procedure : (1) Pour the descaling solution and water mixture into the reservoir (see instructions for dosage), (2) Run a cycle without a capsule to rinse the brewing system, (3) Repeat 2-3 times with clean water to remove any residue, (4) Allow to cool for 15 minutes before use. The LB 1300C Classy Soul automatically requires descaling (orange indicator light) and has a dedicated program : Lavazza Descaling 250 ml + 250 ml of water, followed by a 2 L rinse with clean water.
Use the official Lavazza descaler or a universal descaler compatible with aluminum and brass. Tip: a Brita water filter or low-mineral mineral water reduces the frequency of descaling by half.
