¡Tierra! is Lavazza's flagship sustainability program , launched in 2002 in partnership with the Rainforest Alliance and local NGOs in producing countries. The program provides:

• Guaranteed purchase at a sustained price — economic stability for producers.
• Investment in local infrastructure (schools, clinics, drinking water systems).

Two main certifications depending on the variant and batch:

• Organic (EU regulation) — European organic farming, without synthetic pesticides or GMOs.
• Rainforest Alliance — ecological and social label: biodiversity preservation, decent working conditions, supported incomes.

Not compatible with Lavazza A Modo Mio (consumer), Lavazza Espresso Point, Nespresso Original or Vertuo, Dolce Gusto — the capsule geometries are physically different.

Two main differences compared to a classic blend like Blue Intenso :

1. Composition — ¡Tierra! is 100% organic Arabica (certified organic farming), Intenso is a conventional Arabica-Robusta blend (not organic).
2. Origin and supply chain — ¡Tierra! favours small producers in Latin America and Africa supported through the program, Intenso uses broader origins (multi-suppliers).

The price of ¡Tierra! is higher than a Blue , reflecting the additional cost of organic production and the fair trade premium paid to producers.

• Companies with a stated CSR approach — consistency with environmental/social commitments.

Best before date: 12-18 months from the date of production. Store at room temperature , away from direct light and humidity. Rigid plastic food-grade : recycling via Lavazza collection points in professional establishments, the Terracycle program (depending on region), or household recycling (varies by community). Lavazza is actively working on the development of bio-based/compostable capsules for the ¡Tierra! range (Lavazza Foundation roadmap).
