Taste Profile
Covim Giada is a balanced Italian blend from Covim , a Ligurian roaster founded in 1960 in Sanremo . Positioned within the Covim range as a milder and lighter blend than Granbar (a classic espresso bar blend) and l'OrOcrema (Arabica-dominant), Giada focuses on approachability : dominant notes of milk chocolate , sweet dried fruits (almond, hazelnut), and subtle floral notes . In the cup, it has a medium body , with sweetness at the forefront , controlled bitterness , and a fine, refreshing acidity . The finish is decent, consistent with a versatile blend suitable for home use . It's an ideal blend for discovering the Covim signature without immediately trying the more intense Granbar, or for use in a small office or professional practice where you want to cater to diverse palates (some of whom prefer a less full-bodied cup).

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is the Covim Giada blend for?
The Giada blend aims to:
- Covim premium discovery bowl — for curious amateurs who want to explore the Covim signature (an independent Ligurian roaster little known in France) without going directly to the more intense Granbar.
- Small office or professional practice (5-10 people) — to satisfy varied palates, some of whom prefer a less strong.
- Evening espresso — the milder profile (intensity 6/10) is well suited to an espresso at the end of the day without being too intense.
- Filter coffee maker / French Press office — the balanced blend works very well with gentle extraction.
For a more robust profile, opt for the Covim Orocrema (more complex Arabica-dominant) or the Covim Granbar (full-bodied classic espresso bar).
What is the difference between Covim Giada, Orocrema, Granbar and Prestige?
The four iconic Covim blends reflect distinct profiles :
- Giada (this blend) — a milder, lighter, intensity 6/10, with notes of milk chocolate, sweet dried fruit, and floral aromas. A Covim discovery, suitable for homes with diverse palates.
- Orocrema — Arabica-dominant blend , intensity 7/10, fine cream, more expressive fruity and floral notes.
- Granbar — classic espresso, intensity 8/10, full body, dark chocolate + sweet spices. Covim's best-selling product in the Italian hospitality sector.
- Prestige — premium blend , slower roasting, complex fruity notes.
At Cafemalin, the complete Covim range is available in beans, ESE pods, Firma / Blue / Nespresso compatible capsules.
How many cups can you make with a 1 kg box?
The yield depends on the dosage per cup :
- Strong espresso (7 g/cup) : ~143 cups per 1 kg box.
- Standard espresso (8 g/cup) : ~125 cups per box.
- Long espresso / lungo (10 g/cup) : ~100 cups per box.
- Filter coffee maker (60 g / L, i.e. 12 g per 200 mL) : ~83 cups per box.
For typical household use of 3-4 cups per day , a 1 kg box lasts approximately 4-6 weeks . For more intensive use (small office, private practice), the supply lasts only 2-3 weeks .
How to store coffee after opening?
Whole bean coffee is more stable than ground coffee, but remains sensitive to air, humidity, and light. After opening:
- Carefully close the box or transfer the grains into an opaque, airtight jar — store at room temperature (18-22 °C), away from light.
- Avoid the refrigerator, where the coffee would absorb moisture and odors.
- Ideally, consume within 3-4 weeks for optimal flavor.
An unopened box can be kept until the indicated best before date (usually 18-24 months from roasting).
Compatibility with automatic grain machines?
The Covim Giada blend is perfectly suited to automatic bean-to-cup machines for home and small office use:
- Home / little pro : De'Longhi (Magnifica, Dinamica, Eletta), Jura (E, S, Z, ENA), Melitta (Caffeo, Barista), Krups (Evidence, Intuition), Philips (LatteGo, 2200-5500), Saeco, Siemens.
Recommended settings : medium grind selector 5-6/10, dose 7-9 g, extraction ~25-30 s for a 30 mL espresso. The milder profile of the Giada produces a fine and consistent crema, without excessive bitterness — ideal for automatic machines without pre-infusion.
What is Covim?
Covim is a historic Ligurian coffee roaster , founded in Sanremo (Liguria, Northwest Italy) in 1960. The company initially supplied bars and restaurants on the Italian Riviera , then expanded its distribution internationally in the 1990s. Covim remains an independent, family-owned business (a rarity in the Italian coffee landscape, which is largely dominated by companies like Lavazza, illy, Segafredo, and Kimbo). Its signature blends— Granbar, Orocrema, Prestige, and Giada —are renowned for their consistent cup quality and balanced Italian profile , and are found in high-end Italian hotels, restaurants, and cafes. At Cafemalin, you'll find the complete Covim range, including whole beans, Firma/ compatible capsules Blue , and ESE pods /Nespresso .
