Does Carte Noire still belong to Kraft or Mondelēz?
No — Carte Noire was acquired by Lavazza in April 2016.The Italian group Lavazza purchased the French brand from Mondelēz International (previously owned by Kraft Foods, itself a spin-off from Jacobs Suchard, which created it in 1978) for approximately €700 million. The objective: to strengthen Lavazza's position in the French market, where Carte Noire is one of the leading brands. Production and roasting remain in France ( Andrezieux plant, Loire regionexpertise and DNA Carte Noire. Today, Carte Noire is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Lavazza group.
Is the blend compatible with my automatic bean-to-cup machine?
Yes, all brands : De'Longhi (Magnifica, Dinamica), Jura (E, S, Z, GIGA), Philips (LatteGo, 2200-5500), Melitta (Caffeo, Barista), Krups (Evidence, Intuition), Saeco. Recommended settings: medium grind 5/10, dose 9-10 g, temperature 92°C. Note: 100% Arabica produces a lighter crema than an Arabica-Robusta blend—this is normal, as Arabica crema is light gold rather than chocolate brown.
How many cups can I make with 1 kg?
Estimated yield:
- Strong espresso (7g) : ~143 cups.
- Standard espresso (9 g) : ~111 cups.
- Filter coffee maker (60 g / L) : ~83 cups of 200 mL.
Office 20 cups/day: ~1 week per kilo. Home 4 cups/day: ~4-5 weeks per kilo.
What other Carte Noire formats are available?
Carte Noire offers its range in several formats and intensities: Nespresso-compatible capsules (Espresso Delicate, Intense, Decaf), classic ground coffee 250g / 500g, 1kg beans (this product + Absolu Fort and Intense ranges) and professional packs for restaurants. See the complete Carte Noire.
How to store the 1 kg bag?
Carefully reseal the Carte Noire after opening or transfer the beans to an airtight, opaque container at room temperature (18-22°C), away from light and heat sources. Avoid the refrigerator (humidity and odor absorption). Best before date (sealed bag): 18-24 months. Once opened, ideally consume within 3-4 weeks for optimal flavor.
