illy Espresso Classico in packs of 100 capsules : ten boxes of ten aluminum capsules, compatible with Nespresso® Original machines , except, according to illy, the U, Umilk, Expert, Expert&Milk, Prodigio and Prodigio&Milk models purchased after July 25, 2016.
The coffee is from illy, founded in Trieste in 1933 : a 100% Arabica blend of nine Arabica beans from South America, Central America, Africa and India, roasted in Classico , the mildest roast of the brand.
In a cup (25 to 40 ml, illy recommendation): a smooth and velvety espresso, balanced between acidity and bitterness, with notes of caramel, orange blossom and jasmine, and a sweet aftertaste. Intensity 5 out of 9 on the illy scale.

Which Nespresso® machines are compatible with these capsules?
With Nespresso® Original machines : Essenza, Essenza Mini, Pixie, CitiZ, Inissia, Lattissima, Creatista, including those manufactured by Krups, Magimix or De'Longhi. Illy specifies one exception: U, Umilk, Expert, Expert&Milk, Prodigio and Prodigio&Milk models purchased after July 25, 2016.
They are not suitable for Nespresso Vertuo machines, which use a different capsule format, nor for professional Nespresso machines.
Difference with illy Iperespresso?
illy offers two capsule systems:
- illy compatible Nespresso® (this ref.) — aluminum capsules in Nespresso® Original format, for machines of this system.
- illy Iperespresso — capsules specific to illy, for its Iperespresso machines. Extraction takes place in two phases: an infusion under pressure in the capsule, then an emulsion through its valve, which forms the crema.
What is illy's nine Arabica blend?
This is illy's coffee: nine Arabica varieties chosen from growing regions in South America , Central America , Africa , and India , harmonized into a single 100% Arabica blend . illy states that it selects only about 1% of the Arabica beans, ensuring they are free of defects. The blend is available in three roast levels: Classico , the mildest, Intenso , and Forte .
Why a pack of 10 boxes?
The set includes 10 boxes of 10 capsules, i.e. 100 coffees: more than seven weeks at two cups per day.
Recycling the capsules?
The capsule is made of aluminium. Empty the grounds, which go into the compost, then sort the capsule according to the instructions of your municipality: since 2023, all packaging is sorted in France (Citeo).
