illy compatible Nespresso® Classico pack 100 — the illy signature in Nespresso® Original compatibility, economy pack of 10 boxes of 10. This pack contains 100 aluminium capsules compatible with all Nespresso® Original machines (Essenza, Pixie, CitiZ, Inissia, U, Lattissima, Krups, Magimix, De'Longhi, Aguila pro machines), containing the illy Classico signature blend.
The illy Classico blend is composed of 100% Arabica coffee from nine single-farm origins selected from around the world : Brazil (neutral and sweet base), Ethiopia (floral notes), Guatemala (chocolate), Colombia (bright acidity), Costa Rica (finesse), El Salvador (roundness), India (spicy touches), Kenya (bright acidity), and Uganda (body). This signature recipe has remained constant since the 1980s and represents the DNA of illy—a roaster in Trieste (Veneto, Italy) since 1933, founded by Francesco Illy.
In the cup (40 mL espresso) : a balanced and refined, with a fine, hazelnut-colored crema, signature notes of milk chocolate, blond caramel, delicate floral notes, and malty hints. Medium body (6/10), bright and balanced acidity (5/10), very light bitterness (4/10), and a lingering finish (7/10). This is theTrieste school of coffee —more refined than Turin (Lavazza), more sophisticated than Naples (Kimbo). A faithful illy for Nespresso® machine owners who don't want to be limited to the brand's own capsules.

Is Nespresso® compatibility truly universal?
Yes — illy compatible Nespresso® capsules work with all Nespresso® Original machines : Essenza, Essenza Mini, Pixie, CitiZ, Inissia, U, Prodigio, Lattissima (Touch/One), KitchenAid Nespresso, as well as Krups (Circolo, Pixie), Magimix (M100, M105, U, CitiZ, Pixie) and De'Longhi (Lattissima, EN 500, EN 355) models. Aguila professional machines are also compatible.
⚠️ Not compatible with Nespresso Vertuo — the Vertuo system uses larger, proprietary barcoded capsules. For Vertuo, use official Nespresso brand capsules.
Difference with illy Iperespresso?
illy offers two distinct capsule systems — same Classico blend, different capsule format:
- illy compatible with Nespresso® (this ref.) — aluminum capsule in Nespresso® Original format. For existing Nespresso® machines (Essenza, Pixie, CitiZ, Lattissima…).
- illy Iperespresso — proprietary 2-chamber plastic capsules patented 2007.For illy X7.1, Y3.3, X1 Anniversary, Y5 machines. 2-phase extraction system (infusion + emulsion) — characteristic dense and persistent crema.
Blend Classico is identical in both systems, the only difference is the capsule format and the crema output (Iperespresso offers a denser crema thanks to its 2-phase extraction).
Why 100% Arabica from 9 single-farm origins?
illy has remained faithful since the 1980s to its 100% Arabica recipe from 9 single-farm origins — no Robusta, each origin individually selected in the field (single-farm rather than multi-farm/cooperative). Typical composition:
- South America — Brazil (neutral and sweet base), Colombia (lively acidity), Guatemala (chocolate notes), Costa Rica (finesse).
- Central America — El Salvador (roundness).
- Africa — Ethiopia (floral notes), Kenya (bright acidity), Uganda (body).
- Asia — India (spicy touches, body).
No Robusta. The result: less full-bodied coffee (Robusta provides body and a dense crema), but more aromatic finesse and complexity (Arabica contributes chocolate, caramel, and floral notes). This is the stylistic choice of theTriestine school—refinement rather than raw power.
Savings from a pack of 100 vs. buying 10 boxes of 10?
The 10 x 10 pack contains 10 boxes of 10 capsules. The price per capsule remains lower than that of an equivalent official Nespresso® premium capsule.
Ideal size : moderate office use (2-4 espressos/day, pack lasts ~1 month), intensive home coffee lovers (3-5 espressos/day, pack lasts ~3 weeks), gift for coffee enthusiasts. For intensive office use (50+ coffees/day), choose the Iperespresso 90-capsule pack for even better savings.
Recycling of aluminum capsules?
Capsules made from 100% recyclable aluminum. Three recycling streams:
- Yellow recycling (extended recycling guidelines) — most French municipalities now accept aluminum capsules in the yellow bin (Citeo, extended guidelines 2022+). Check with your local town hall.
- PointNespresso® collection — Nespresso® boutiques and some pointaccept aluminum capsules of all brands.
- store Cafemalin — we accept your used aluminum capsules as part of our recycling partnership.
Coffee grounds — must be separated (home compost or organic waste). Do not throw the full capsule in the compost.

The "Intenso" designation in the slug — is that the Classico or Intenso blend?
This is the Classico blend, not Intenso. The URL slug for this product has historically included the word "Intenso" for legacy naming reasons—but the blend actually delivered is the Classico (100% Arabica, balanced medium roast). The product content, visuals, and flavor descriptions reflect the Classico blend. Our URL slugs are not editable (WordPress technical limitation).
