Lavazza Capsules

Lavazza offers 4 capsule ecosystems, each with a different shape and mechanism — they are not interchangeable :

1. A Modo Mio (2007+): small biopolymer, box of 16. For Lavazza Jolie, Idola, Deséa, Voicy, and Milk Easy machines. See A Modo MioMio.
2. Blue (LB) : larger capsules, box of 100. For LB 300/400/900/2500 machines (Ho.Re.Ca., office). See Blue.
3. Espresso Point (FEP) : specific paper cartridge, box of 100. For historical Espresso Point and vending machines. See Espresso Point.
4. Nespresso Original compatible : aluminum capsules manufactured by Lavazza for Nespresso Original machines (not Vertuo). Maestro. See Nespresso compatibility.

Tip : If you don't know which machine you have, look for the name on the base or in the manual. Each model has a completely different capsule shape.

For a first A Modo Miopurchase, two blends are generally recommended:

Passionale — our absolute best-seller (4,700+ customers). Arabica + Robusta blend, dense crema, full body, chocolatey notes. The safe choice for a balanced Italian espresso every day.

Soave — for those who prefer a smoother, rounder espresso. 100% Arabica, lighter roast, fruity and honeyed notes. Ideal as a cappuccino or latte.

Both are available in multi-box packs for savings. The Capsules Pack Modo Mio lets you try several blends at once.

It depends on the system:

• A Modo Mio : capsules made from biopolymer (a material that is industrially compostable in certain sectors). Since 2020, Lavazza has also offered a compostable in collaboration with some Italian municipalities.
• Blue : food-grade plastic capsules . Not recyclable through standard French recycling channels (to be disposed of in the rubbish).
• Espresso Point : paper cartridge. The paper is recyclable (paper bin) once the grounds have been emptied.
• Compatible with Nespresso Original (Maestro) machines : 100% recyclable aluminum. Empty the grounds into the compost, rinse, and place in the yellow recycling bin (aluminum) — this system recycles infinitely.

Our eco recommendation : if your machine accepts both systems, choose the Maestro aluminium for direct recycling.

The standard format varies depending on the ecosystem:

• A Modo Mio : 16 capsules per box (~€5.88, or ~€0.37/cup). Also available in multi-box packs at a discount.
• Blue : 100 capsules per box (~€30, or ~€0.30/cup). Large consumer format, ideal for offices/Ho.Re.Ca.
• Espresso Point : 100 capsules per box (~€27, or ~€0.27/cup). The cheapest per unit cost.
• Nespresso Original compatible : 100 capsules per box (~€28, i.e. ~€0.28/cup).

Our advice : for a household of 1-2 people, stick with A Modo Mio (less waste, fresh capsules). For an office, restaurant, or professional use, choose Blue or Espresso Point.

Both systems target a professional audience but are completely distinct :

Lavazza Blue (LB) — Lavazza's proprietary ecosystem, 100-capsule box. Compatible with LB 300/400/900/2500 machines. Excellent value for money for an authentic Italian espresso. Lavazza signature blends (Intenso, Amabile, Lungo Tales of Venezia…). Ideal for SMEs, independent businesses, and light catering.

Nespresso Professional — the Nestlé/Nespresso ecosystem for B2B (not to be confused with Nespresso Original). Specific Nespresso Pro capsules, larger than the Original capsules. Premium positioning, larger catalog but often more expensive.

Our recommendation : if you're looking for an authentic Italian espresso at a reasonable price for your office or restaurant, Lavazza Blue is an excellent choice. Nespresso Pro is better suited to large groups requiring a Nespresso B2B service.
