Delta ground coffee in 90 seconds

Delta Cafés was founded in 1961 in Campo Maior (Alentejo, Portugal) by Rui Nabeiro, an iconic entrepreneur in Portuguese coffee. Delta quickly established itself as Portugal's number one brand and is now distributed in more than 40 countries, with a strong presence in regions with a Portuguese diaspora: France, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Canada and Brazil. Delta's signature: slow-roasted Arabica-Robusta blends.

Delta Gold is one of the roaster's flagship blends: slow-roasted Robustas from Africa and Arabicas from Central America, for a pure, balanced and vibrant cup with notes of honey and ripe fruit. Intensity 8/10 (12 on Delta's scale of 15). The 250 g ground coffee format at 5,90 € is optimised for households without a grinder or an espresso machine with a built-in grinder — brew directly in a Bialetti moka pot, filter coffee machine or espresso machine with a portafilter (the Delta grind is fine enough for this last type of machine).

The Delta Gold grind is optimised for:

  • Moka pot (Bialetti) — medium grind, extraction for ~2–3 minutes over a low heat. Yield: ~35 moka cups per 250 g bag.
  • Electric filter coffee machine — yield: ~35–50 cups of filter coffee per 250 g bag (7 g/cup).
  • Espresso machine with a portafilter (entry-level Krups, Delonghi) — possible, the Delta grind is compatible. Not recommended for espresso machines with a built-in grinder (choose Delta coffee beans to grind just before brewing instead).

Can Delta Gold ground coffee be used in an espresso machine?

It depends on the type of machine:

  • Espresso machine with a portafilter (entry-level Krups XP, Delonghi Dedica, Rancilio Silvia…) — yes, the Delta grind is fine enough to extract a decent espresso. Tamp moderately.
  • Espresso machine with a built-in grinder (Delonghi Magnifica, Jura, Saeco…) — no, these machines require beans to be ground just before extraction. Choose Delta coffee beans instead.
  • Moka pot & electric filter coffee machine — optimal use, with natural extraction by steam pressure or percolation.
What is the difference between Delta Gold ground coffee and Delta Gold coffee beans?

The same blend — but two formats for two uses:

  • Delta Gold ground coffee 250 g — convenient for moka pots, electric filter coffee machines and portafilter espresso machines. No grinder required. Use within 2–3 weeks of opening to preserve the aromas.
  • Delta Gold coffee beans (from 500 g bags to 30 kg packs, see the Delta coffee beans category) — maximum freshness (ground just before brewing), precise grind adjustment and better crema in a bean-to-cup espresso machine.

The blend, origin and roast are identical — only the grind and pack size differ.

How do you brew Delta Gold coffee in a Bialetti moka pot?

For the best results with a moka pot:

  1. Fill the water reservoir (lower chamber) up to the safety valve
  2. Add the Delta ground coffee to the filter basket: fill without tamping (~7–15 g depending on whether you use a moka pot with a capacity of 3/6 cups)
  3. Screw the upper chamber firmly onto the water reservoir
  4. Place over a low heat — never a high heat (which burns the coffee). Allow around 2–3 minutes until you hear the characteristic gurgling sound
  5. Remove from the heat immediately as soon as the gurgling starts to subside
  6. Serve immediately to preserve the crema and aromas

How should you store Delta ground coffee?

How best to store ground coffee:

  • Before opening: keep in the original sealed bag until the date shown on the packaging, away from heat and light (in a dry cupboard)
  • After opening: carefully reseal the bag with a clip or transfer the coffee to an airtight container, and use within 2–3 weeks to preserve the aromas
  • Ideal storage: an opaque, airtight container in a dry cupboard at a room temperature of 18–22 °C
How long will my Delta ground coffee take to arrive?

At checkout, you can choose delivery to a pick-up point, home delivery, express delivery before 13 h, or collection from the shop in Sarcelles.
