Recommended preparation
Recommended equipment: A hot drinks vending machine for powdered drinks, or simply a cup of hot water
Use & recommendations
Ristora vanilla cappuccino is an instant powder mix that makes a hot drink with a cappuccino taste and vanilla flavouring. Developed for vending machines, it combines coffee flavour with a hint of vanilla, with a base of skimmed milk powder, instant coffee, cocoa and sugar. It is the counterpart to the hazelnut cappuccino in Ristora's flavoured cappuccino range, which also includes Irish and caramel.
Two ways to prepare it:
- By the cup — put 17 to 19 g of powder in a cup, add hot water, then stir until the powder has fully dissolved. No espresso machine is needed.
- In a vending machine — adjust the dose and settings according to the instructions on the bag and the machine manufacturer's recommendations.
How many cups? A 1 kg bag makes 52 to 58 cups depending on the dose used (17 to 19 g); this product page uses 19 g, the upper end of the range, to calculate the cost per cup. At two cups a day, one bag lasts just under a month.
Where to use it. This mix has a variety of uses:
- Businesses and offices — for vending machines and break areas.
- Hotels and catering — for serving a flavoured hot drink.
- Shared spaces — for vending equipment.
- At home — prepared by hand with hot water.
Storage. Keep the bag dry and protected from heat, air and light. Once opened, reseal it carefully or transfer the contents to an airtight container: the powder is sensitive to moisture.
Frequently asked questions
How much powder per cup, and how many cups does a 1 kg bag make?
The guideline for this cappuccino is 17 to 19 g of powder in a cup of hot water. A 1 kg bag therefore makes 52 to 58 cups: 52 to 19 g, 58 to 17 g.
In a vending machine, the dose is set on the machine: start with this range, then adjust according to the result in the cup and the machine manufacturer's recommendations.
Is this cappuccino gluten-free?
The bag is labelled ‘gluten-free’ (senza glutine in Italian), and retailers selling it repeat the same claim. As the recipe may change from batch to batch, the packaging you receive is the definitive source: if you have coeliac disease or a severe allergy, read the label before consuming it.
Is the vanilla natural?
The ingredient lists checked simply state ‘flavourings’, without specifying whether they are natural, and Ristora does not provide this detail for this bag. We therefore make no such claim: if this matters to you, check the exact wording on your bag's label. The intended taste is that of a sweet, milky cappuccino with a hint of vanilla.
What are the ingredients and allergens?
The ingredient list found at retailers is as follows: sugar, skimmed milk powder, glucose syrup, non-hydrogenated coconut fats, instant coffee, highly defatted cocoa powder, potato starch, flavourings, salt, with texture additives (thickener, stabiliser, emulsifier). The proportions are not reproduced here: they vary from batch to batch according to the sources.
Allergen: milk (skimmed milk powder). The mix also contains instant coffee, and therefore caffeine. The full list and any possible traces are shown on the bag.
Is it suitable for my vending machine?
It is designed for hot drinks machines that use instant powders: the powder dissolves in hot water, without an espresso machine. It is suitable for neither a coffee bean grinder nor a capsule holder: it is not coffee beans.
Adjust the dose and settings according to the instructions on the bag and those provided by your machine's manufacturer. To make it by the cup, no machine is needed: hot water is all you need.
Vanilla or hazelnut: what's the difference?
The Ristora hazelnut cappuccino 1 kg is another flavour in the same range: according to the ingredient lists found at retailers, the base is the same (skimmed milk, instant coffee, cocoa, sugar) and only the flavouring changes. The same dose is indicated, in the same 1 kg bag. Ristora also offers Irish and caramel versions in this range for vending machines.

How should I store it after opening?
Keep the bag dry and protected from heat, air and light. After opening, reseal it carefully or transfer the powder to an airtight container: instant powder that absorbs moisture clumps together and becomes harder to measure accurately. The best-before date is printed on the bag.
