⚠️ Important precautions

To ensure your machine works properly and avoid invalidating the warranty, follow these rules:

Use the machine under normal conditions: between 5°C and 40°C, in a dry place
Do not replace any parts (the power cord or otherwise) yourself.
Only use compatible Lavazza Blue capsules.
Use soft water (filtered or low in limescale)
Do not store the appliance at temperatures below 4°C.
Never use repairers who are not authorised by Lavazza.
Only use genuine accessories and parts.

Failure to follow these instructions may invalidate the manufacturer's warranty.

1. Installing and setting up the machine

 Positioning

  • Place the LB900 on a flat, clean and dry surface, away from any source of heat or moisture.
  • Do not plug in the machine yet.
  • Make sure your hands and the machine are completely dry.

2. Preparing the water tank

  • Rinse the tank thoroughly with clean water.
  • Fill it with cold, still drinking water.
  • Never exceed the MAX level and make sure the water stays above the MIN level.
  • If possible, use filtered water to extend the life of your appliance.
  • You can also fit an optional Lavazza filter by following its instructions.

3. Switching on and initial rinse

  1. Plug the machine into an electrical socket.
  2. Press one of the buttons to switch it on.
  3. The indicator lights will flash white: this means the machine is heating up.
  4. When they turn steady white, it is ready to use.

4. Start-up rinse

  1. Place a glass under the spout.
  2. Press the LUNGO button to run clean water through.
  3. If no water comes out, repeat the process (up to a maximum of 6 times).
  4. Continue until the tank is empty: the rinse is complete.

5. Making a coffee

  1. Lift the top lever.
  2. Insert a Lavazza Blue capsule.
  3. Close the lever until it clicks into place.
  4. Place a cup under the spout.
  5. Choose:
    • ESPRESSO for a short coffee
    • LUNGO for a long coffee
  6. Once extraction is complete, lift the lever to eject the used capsule.

6. Maintenance

🔄 Daily maintenance

If you have not used the machine for more than 3 days, empty and rinse the tank.
Before using it again, run a little water through without a capsule.
Clean the removable parts (capsule container, cup rest, etc.) with a soft sponge and lukewarm water.
These parts (excluding electrical components) are dishwasher-safe

🧽 Weekly maintenance

Run a cycle without a capsule to clean the dispensing circuit.
⚠️ Never use alcohol, solvents or a heat source to dry the machine.

6. Descaling the Lavazza Blue LB900
recommended every 2 months

Descaling steps

1. Switch off the machine and empty the water tank.
2. Prepare your descaling solution (click here for the product page).
3. Pour it into the water tank and put the tank back in place.
4. Switch on the machine.
5. Place a container under the spout.
6. Press LUNGO and dispense 2 cups (~120 ml each).
7. Leave to work for 15 to 20 minutes.
8. Continue dispensing until the water tank is completely empty.
Always use descaler specifically designed for coffee machines.

9. Rinse the water tank and fill it with clean water
10. Use the LUNGO button to run the entire tank of water through the machine again.
11. Repeat this process twice.
12. The descaling cycle is complete: the machine is ready to use again.

❌ What you must never do:

Do not use vinegar, alcohol, solvents or a heat source to dry the machine.
Do not insert a capsule during descaling.
Never drink the descaling solution.

 

✅ Tips to keep your machine in top condition

  • Always use soft water that is not sparkling.
  • Do not leave water standing in the tank for more than 3 days.
  • Use only Lavazza Blue capsules.
  • Clean the removable parts regularly.
  • Keep to the descaling intervals (every 2 months).

 Recommended usage to protect the LB900:

  • 30 to 40 coffees per day is ideal for balancing performance and longevity.
  • It can handle up to 50 to 60 coffees per day occasionally, but this level of daily use will accelerate wear on the components (pump, brew group, etc.).

 

 Maintenance best practices to protect the machine:

  1. Descaling: every 300 to 400 servings or every 2 to 3 months.
  2. Daily cleaning of the removable parts (water tray, capsule container, nozzles).
  3. Filtered water is strongly recommended (especially in hard water areas).
  4. Allow the machine to cool down between long runs of coffees (>10 in a row), if possible.
