Taste Profile
Bristot L'Americano Dark Roast is an Arabica & Robusta designed for the American coffee : a longer cup (200-300 mL), brewed in a filter coffee maker or percolator. The dark roast, a signature of the Bristot (founded in Belluno, at the foot of the Dolomites, in 1919 by Domenico Bristot upon his return from a stay in Vienna), develops intense notes of dark chocolate, burnt caramel , and toasted aromas (roasted cereal notes).
In the cup, the body is dense and robust, the bitterness pronounced but clean, the acidity subtle —the classic profile of American restaurant coffee, with the length and persistence characteristic of a well-executed dark roast extraction. A versatile blend for medium office/moderate hospitality settings : ideal in filter coffee makers, moka pots, percolators, and even as a lungo espresso.
The XL 6 kg pack is the entry-level Bristot L'Americano pro pack — ideal for medium-sized offices with 15-30 employees (4-6 week supply), moderate hospitality establishments (bistros, neighborhood brasseries, tea rooms serving 50-100 cups/day, 2-3 week supply), and light catering (bars, snack bars). A larger 12 x 1 kg is available for intensive hospitality use. A single 1 kg is also available for home use or for testing before committing to a pack.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the "Americano dark roast" style?
AnAmericano is a long, American-style coffee —a 200-300 mL cup—often made by diluting an espresso with hot water, or brewed directly in a filter coffee maker. Dark roast is the signature American and Italian Alpine style for this type of preparation: it amplifies the notes of dark chocolate, burnt caramel , and toast, resulting in a coffee that holds its even when diluted to double the volume. Bristot, a historic roaster from Belluno (Dolomites, Veneto) since 1919, offers this style in a balanced Arabica-Robusta blend specifically calibrated for office/moderate hospitality service.
Who is this 6 x 1 kg pack intended for?
The XL 6kg pack is a medium office/moderate hospitality format , calibrated for:
- Average office 15-30 employees — consumption 30-60 cups/day, autonomy 4-6 weeks.
- Moderate CHR (bistro, neighborhood brasserie, tea room) — 50-100 cups/day, autonomy ~2-3 weeks.
- Intensive office break room — 30+ people, shared bean machine.
- Light meals (bar, snacks) — long Americano-style coffees.
For lighter use, choose the 1 kg single bag. For more intensive use (heavy hospitality, catering), the 12 x 1 kg pack is.
Why 6 bags of 1 kg rather than one 6 kg bag?
It's a deliberate choice for freshness :
- Coffee aromas degrade when exposed to air (lipid oxidation + loss of volatile essential oils). An opened 6 kg bag loses approximately 30% of its aroma in 4-6 weeks.
- In 6 sealed 1 kg bags with a degassing valve, each bag remains fresh until opened. The opened bag will be consumed within 1-2 weeks (average office use), while the 5 remaining sealed bags can be used up.
- Consistency and regularity of cup : each new bag gives a coffee with an identical, against a progressive drift with a single 6 kg bag that is stale.
This is the pro quality standard for XL packs — same approach as Delta, Lavazza and Kimbo on their 3-30 kg packs.
What grind setting should I use with my machine?
This pack contains whole grains — you adjust the grind according to your machine:
- Automatic grain machine (integrated grinder) — medium grind selector 5-7/10. The machine adjusts the dose and pressure.
- Espresso filter holder — fine grind , 14-18 g double dose, extraction 25-30 s for an espresso or 30-40 s for a lungo.
- Filter coffee maker (grind on demand on dedicated grinder) — medium, ratio 60 g / L.
- Bialetti Moka — medium-fine, full basket without packing.
Dark roast tip : Americano blends reach their full potential in a volumetric filter coffee maker (Moccamaster Pro, Bonavita) or as a long, Americano-style espresso. As a classic espresso, it's still good but less expressive than in a longer format.
How long does an opened sachet last?
Each opened 1 kg bag remains optimal for:
- Moderate use in the hospitality industry (50-80 cups/day) — 1-2 weeks, aroma intact.
- Average office use (30-40 cups/day) — 10-14 days, aromas still excellent.
- Intensive household use (5-10 cups/day) — ~3 weeks, if bag resealed with its heat-sealable band or transferred into an opaque airtight jar.
The other 5 sealed bags can be kept until the indicated best before date (generally 18 to 24 months from roasting), away from light and heat.
Is Bristot a recognized coffee roaster?

Present in more than 65 countries , the company was named Roaster of the Year 2023-24 by the Guida Camaleonte , and its Tiziano 1919 Riserva Domenico Bristot blend is recognized by the Wall Street Journal as one of the best coffees in the world. At Cafemalin, the Bristot range covers: Classico Intenzo 1 kg , Classico Oro 1 kg, L'Americano Dark Roast (this blend in 1 / 6 / 12 kg), and compatibility with capsule systems (Lavazza Blue, Lavazza Point).
